Freelance Data Scientist – ML / Azure / Databricks

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to work on a part-time remote basis, developing data science and machine learning solutions that solve real-world business and operational problems.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Python, SQL, machine learning, predictive modeling, cloud data analytics, and preferably Azure, Databricks, PySpark, and Azure Data Factory/Data Lake.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end solutions using the data science lifecycle.
• Build and maintain data analytics solutions and machine learning algorithms.
• Apply regression, classification, Random Forest, XGBoost, time-series modeling, and anomaly detection.
• Analyze data from data lakes/data warehouses to identify optimization opportunities.
• Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical data science solutions.
• Develop predictive models for production, efficiency, energy consumption, equipment failures, downtime, and operational risks.
• Define ETL/data requirements and collaborate with data engineering teams.
• Design scalable data architectures covering data warehousing, ML, streaming analytics, and visualization.
• Work with cloud data platforms and contribute to improving the data science technology stack.
• Support data quality, testing, governance, documentation, and training.
• Work with streaming/IoT datasets where applicable.
• Mentor junior data scientists and analysts.
• Participate in stakeholder workshops and communicate analytical findings effectively.Required Skills
• 5+ years of practical experience in Data Science / Data Analytics.
• Strong Python and SQL skills; Scala is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning and predictive modeling.
• Experience with cloud-based data analytics solutions.
• Knowledge of data processing, data lakes, data warehouses, and ML solutions.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
• Ability to independently manage projects and make technical decisions.Preferred Skills
