Senior Software Engineer - Java & React/Next.js

As a Senior Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving the technical strategy, design, and delivery of core Customer Account Management applications that support enterprise customer lifecycle and data management capabilities. You will be responsible for building and modernizing scalable software solutions — including backend services, APIs, and customer-facing front-end components — designed for performance, reliability, and cloud-native scalability. This role requires good expertise in system design, integration, and full-stack development, with a focus on developing intuitive, responsive applications across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You will write clean, efficient code using Java, Spring Boot, React/Next.js, and modern web technologies, while ensuring adherence to engineering best practices, testing standards, and operational excellence. You will maintain a deep understanding of enterprise systems and data flows, working closely with cross-functional teams — including Product Owners, Business stakeholders, and Cloud/DevOps teams — to design and implement complex business rules, validation logic, and data integrations. The role also involves leading modernization initiatives, migrating legacy platforms to cloud-native architectures, and driving improvements in CI/CD and DevOps practices. Assignments often span multiple initiatives and require independent technical decision-making, with accountability for delivery quality and timelines. You will mentor and guide engineers across distributed teams (onshore and offshore), contribute to architectural planning, and ensure alignment with enterprise standards. Success in this role requires strong leadership skills, hands-on technical depth, and experience building scalable systems on cloud platforms such as GCP/Azure, along with a focus on reliability, performance, and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance complex software components, including backend services, APIs, and front-end applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability across enterprise systems.· Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirement analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and code reviews.
• Build and maintain scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Java (Spring Boot) and develop responsive, user-friendly interfaces using React/Next.js and modern web technologies.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, ensuring system efficiency, data integrity, and seamless integration across distributed systems.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions and validation logic.
• Lead and participate in architecture discussions, system design reviews, and modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy systems to cloud-native architectures.
• Ensure high code quality through design standards, peer reviews, testing strategies, and adherence to CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
• Mentor and guide software engineers, fostering best practices in coding, design, and problem-solving while supporting a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Monitor, diagnose, and resolve production issues with urgency, implementing proactive measures to prevent recurrence and improve system stability.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering productivity, system performance, and development standards across the team.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of full-stack software development experience, with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and modern front-end frameworks such as React/Next.js using TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Proven experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems using microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven patterns.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS, including deploying and managing cloud-native applications.
• Strong proficiency in web technologies including HTML, CSS, and modern UI development practices, along with experience working with JSON, REST integrations, and API contracts.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and exposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., Couchbase, MongoDB or similar).
• Experience working with messaging systems or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Solace, or similar) and integrating event-driven workflows.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor engineers, with prior experience contributing to technical design decisions and guiding teams on best practices.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex systems and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity and experience in React.js

• Experience developing applications with non-relational database technologies - Cosmos DB
• Experience working in retail domains and developing e-commerce solutions.
• Experience building micro-services and working with event-driven and cloud architecture.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ability to thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
• Familiarity with secure application development practices.
• Understanding log analysis tools such as Splunk with the ability to query the logs and build dashboards when needed.
• Experience with Azure services, Kubernetes/AKS, and CI/CD pipelines
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools/APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Copilot)
