About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Bioinformatics Product Consultant to help us define and develop a web-based commercial bioinformatics platform for genomic analysis.

The role will bridge Bioinformatics, Product, IT, and Engineering, working closely with our development team to turn bioinformatics capabilities and pipelines into a practical, scalable commercial platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and define end-to-end workflows and user journeys for a web-based commercial platform.
• Understand bioinformatics solutions and market requirements for genomic analysis.
• Translate clinical, laboratory, and commercial requirements into clear product and technical requirements.
• Oversee and guide the full development team, curating and prioritizing features to ensure the platform solves real customer needs.
• Work closely with the Bioinformatics/Pipeline team to integrate backend pipelines into the platform.
• Guide the team from product concept through development, integration, testing, and delivery.
• Evaluate existing and potential bioinformatics capabilities and recommend how they should be incorporated into the platform.
• Provide input on data hosting, storage, security, and management, particularly within AWS.Technical Skills
• Strong IT experience in developing web-based commercial applications and workflows.
• Experience working with web application architecture, APIs, databases, and system integration.
• Understanding of bioinformatics platforms and genomic analysis pipelines, preferably in rare disease.
• Familiarity with NGS, WES/WGS, variant analysis, annotation, CNV, and clinical genomic workflows.
• Experience integrating backend bioinformatics pipelines with web-based applications.
• Working knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure, data storage, hosting, and data management.
• Ability to work effectively with software engineers, bioinformatics engineers, and technical teams.
• Experience with Agile / product development methodologies is an advantage.Ideal Candidate
• 5+ years of relevant experience in IT, software development, bioinformatics, healthcare technology, or related fields.
• Strong combination of technical, product, and bioinformatics knowledge.
• Able to understand both business requirements and technical implementation.
• Experience leading or overseeing development teams is highly preferred.
• Commercial product development or startup experience is a strong advantage.
• Able to work independently and deliver meaningful outcomes within a 3-month engagement.Contract Scope
