Job Purpose
The NPD (New Product Development) Manager will lead the development and implementation of new products and manufacturing processes within the machine shop. The role involves driving projects from concept through production launch while ensuring innovation, quality, cost efficiency, and timely execution.
- Key Responsibilities
- New Product Development
Lead and manage the complete new product development lifecycle from concept, design, prototyping, testing, and production launch.
Collaborate with engineering, production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure successful project execution.
Drive innovation in machining processes and manufacturing techniques.
- Project Management
Prepare and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to delivery schedules and cost targets.
Coordinate internal stakeholders and external vendors where required.
- Design Process Development
Oversee product design, prototyping, validation, and testing activities.
Ensure designs meet customer specifications, quality standards, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
Support process optimization for CNC VMC machining operations.
- Quality Risk Management
Work with quality teams to establish quality control plans and inspection standards for new products.
Conduct design reviews, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues.
Ensure compliance with manufacturing and quality standards.
- Costing Documentation
Develop cost estimates for new products and manufacturing processes.
Maintain accurate project documentation including design records, test reports, process sheets, and project updates.
- Qualifications Skills
- Educational Qualification
Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
Masters Degree will be an added advantage.
Experience
710 years of experience in New Product Development within a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of machining processes, CNC VMC operations, tooling, and production equipment.
Familiarity with quality control methodologies and manufacturing standards.
Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is preferred.
Proficiency in project management tools/software.
