Backend Developer (Lead)
Job Description
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions: Architecture and Design Leadership: - Lead the architecture and design of complex, large-scale systems and features. - Drive critical technical decisions that impact multiple services, components, and product lines. - Ensure system scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance through robust architectural practices. Project and Feature Ownership: - Take end-to-end ownership of major projects, from requirement gathering and solution design to development, deployment, and post-release support. - Ensure project deliverables align with organisational objectives, product vision, and business goals. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project execution. Mentorship and Team Leadership: - Mentor and guide SDE-1 and SDE-2 engineers through technical coaching and career development support. - Lead small engineering squads when required to drive delivery excellence and adherence to engineering best practices. - Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing within the team. Code Reviews and Engineering Standards: - Maintain and enforce high standards of code quality, scalability, security, and technical excellence. - Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to engineering teams. - Define, implement, and promote coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices. Technical Vision and Strategy: - Contribute to the definition and execution of the engineering and technology roadmap. - Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve product scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency. - Partner with engineering leadership to drive long-term system stability, innovation, and technical growth. Complex Problem Solving and Innovation: - Resolve complex technical challenges, production issues, and escalations. - Design and implement scalable, resilient, and high-performance solutions for distributed systems. - Lead research and development initiatives focused on new technologies, frameworks, and engineering approaches. Requirements: - A bachelor's degree in engineering/technology (B. Tech) or equivalent is mandatory. - Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages/frameworks: Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript), Golang, Python, PHP, Java - 6+ years of experience in designing, building, and delivering software applications. - Strong familiarity with major operating systems, including Linux, macOS, and Windows. - Experience in designing and integrating private/public APIs and cross-service communication. - Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and asynchronous communication technologies such as gRPC and Kafka. - Deep expertise in both SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra). - Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. - Experience working with cloud platforms, including AWS and GCP. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins. - Strong understanding of RESTful services, deployment pipelines, and modern software development practices. - Proficiency with Git and collaborative software development workflows. - Demonstrated experience deploying and managing production-grade applications on AWS/GCP environments. - Technologies We Use: Golang, Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript), Python, MongoDB, ClickHouseDB, Redis, Memcached, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins.
