We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who can combine strong full-stack development skills with excellent application design, architecture, and product thinking.

The Opportunity

ARC is building a new innovative data-centric research and collaboration platform to leverage current and future AI-assisted capabilities. We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack Developer / Application Architect who can take a central role in designing, building, and evolving these applications. This is not a narrowly defined coding position. The successful candidate will help establish the long-term architecture, translate business needs into elegant technical solutions, make sound design decisions, and remain actively involved in development and delivery.

What You Will Build

  • A scalable Research and Collaboration Platform supporting research workflows, project tracking, publication, and related analyst activities.
  • Secure, reusable application services and APIs that connect ARC’s internal and external systems.
  • Modern authentication and single sign-on experiences designed to work across the Research and Collaboration Platform, and future applications.
  • Future AI-enabled and agent-based capabilities that make ARC research easier to create, maintain, discover, and use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own or help lead the end-to-end architecture of ARC’s current and future applications.
  • Design and develop responsive, intuitive web applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize Python-based APIs, backend services, business logic, and integrations.
  • Design sound data models and work effectively with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Create secure, scalable solutions on Microsoft Azure, including deployment, monitoring, performance, and reliability.
  • Integrate Microsoft Graph and other internal or third-party services through well-designed APIs.
  • Develop effective data visualizations, dashboards, and interactive analytical experiences.
  • Partner directly with analysts, product owners, and business leaders to convert complex workflows into simple, useful applications.
  • Evaluate architectural alternatives, explain trade-offs clearly, and recommend practical approaches that support both near-term delivery and long-term growth.
  • Establish strong engineering practices for documentation, testing, code review, security, DevOps, and maintainability.
  • Help strengthen internal technical knowledge and reduce dependency on any single individual by documenting architecture and mentoring other developers.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience building and delivering modern full-stack web applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to design application architecture—not only implement predefined specifications.
  • Advanced experience with React, TypeScript, modern state management, and component-based user-interface development.
  • Strong Python backend development experience, preferably with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
  • Strong relational database design and SQL skills, including Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating multiple business systems.
  • Experience deploying and operating production applications in Microsoft Azure.
  • Sound understanding of authentication, authorization, role-based access, single sign-on, and application security.
  • Ability to work independently, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and lead technical decisions in a small, collaborative team.
  • A strong eye for usability and the ability to turn complex data and workflows into clear, innovative application experiences. Preferred Experience
  • Material UI, React Redux, Celery, Redis, and background-task processing.
  • Data pipelines, ETL, Pandas, NumPy, or related data-engineering tools.
  • D3.js or other charting and data-visualization frameworks.
  • Microsoft Graph API, Microsoft identity technologies, and external identity or business-to-consumer authentication.
  • AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, language-model integrations, or Model Context Protocol implementations.
  • DevOps, automated testing, observability, performance optimization, and secure cloud deployment.
  • Experience with research, analytics, market intelligence, data products, or subscription-based client portals.
