About The Role

In our ‘always on’ world, we believe it’s essential to have a genuine connection with the work you do. We are seeking a high-caliber Staff Engineer, Embedded, to join our team based in Bangalore. This senior technical role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design and development of firmware for cutting-edge Smart RF Amplifiers, Nodes, and Remote Telemetry Modules, including FDX/DOCSIS 4.0 cable access and IoT edge nodes. As a key member of our engineering team, you will serve as a technical lead, taking ownership of ARM-based MCU/MPU firmware development at both bare-metal and RTOS levels. You will work closely with hardware and RF teams, bridging software engineering with hardware design to create robust, efficient, and scalable firmware solutions that power our innovative products.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in embedded systems engineering. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a minimum of 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience, with proven leadership roles such as a technical lead or Staff Engineer. Deep expertise in ARM Cortex architecture, assembly language, linker scripts, and advanced C/C++ programming is essential. Familiarity with RTOS environments like FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX, as well as bare-metal firmware development, is critical. Practical knowledge of RF hardware components, including attenuators, equalizers, and power amplifiers, along with hands-on experience implementing AGC algorithms, will be highly valued. Additionally, experience with LoRaWAN protocols, wireless transceiver modules, hardware debugging tools, and schematic interpretation is required. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, especially US-based hardware, RF, and firmware engineers, are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and optimize low-level firmware for ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A microcontrollers and microprocessors, ensuring real-time performance and reliability across RTOS or bare-metal environments.
  • Implement and refine RF control algorithms, including AGC, ALC, tilt compensation, and digital equalizers, to enhance signal integrity and system performance.
  • Collaborate with hardware and RF design teams by reading schematics, understanding component datasheets, and guiding pinout definitions, power management, and peripheral routing.
  • Develop robust drivers for peripherals such as I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO interfaces to control RF chips, sensors, and power management components.
  • Design, integrate, and maintain LoRaWAN stacks and application layers for remote telemetry and IoT applications, enabling long-range, low-power connectivity.
  • Lead initial board bring-up on custom prototype PCBs, perform hardware/software co-debugging using tools like Keil, GDB, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and RF spectrum analyzers.
  • Optimize system memory usage, improve code efficiency, and ensure deterministic real-time performance through careful system architecture and software design.
  • Manage development workflows using modern version control systems like Git and project management tools such as Jira, ensuring high-quality, maintainable code.
