Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled IBM BPM / BAW Developer with a strong background in Java/JEE enterprise application development and relational databases. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end process automation workflows.

A critical component of this role involves utilizing IBM Integration Designer (IID) to build Advanced Integration Services (AIS), BPEL processes, and mediation flows that bridge our workflow engine with complex enterprise backend systems. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between process modelling (Process Designer) and complex backend enterprise integration (IID/Java/SQL).

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Automation & Workflow Development

  • Design, develop, and implement end-to-end process models using IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) / IBM BPM (Process Designer).
  • Create and maintain standard/advanced client-side human services, coach views, and custom UI components using JavaScript/CSS.
  • Implement complex process logic, tracking groups, timers, gateways, and UCA (Undercover Agents) event handling. 2. Advanced Integration & Middleware (IID)
  • Utilize IBM Integration Designer (IID) to develop robust Advanced Integration Services (AIS), Service Component Architecture (SCA) modules, and BPEL (Business Process Execution Language) processes.
  • Design and configure custom Mediation Flows, data transformations (XSLT/BO Maps), and adapters (JDBC, Flat File, Web Services) within IID.
  • Build, expose, and consume secure corporate enterprise web services (REST APIs and SOAP/WSDL protocols) using XML and JSON data mapping. 3. Java Stack & Core Backend Customization
  • Develop custom server-side plugins, integration components, and utility classes using Core Java / JEE to handle complex business logic outside standard out-of-the-box BPM capabilities.
  • Write clean, maintainable enterprise Java code, managing object mappings, dependency injection, and advanced multithreaded processing configurations. 4. Database & Performance Optimization
  • Write complex, high-performance SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to interact with enterprise relational databases (e.g., Oracle, IBM DB2, or MS SQL Server).
  • Design data schemas and optimize database interactions within BPM integration services to minimize latency and avoid process blocking.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance bottlenecks across the BPM runtime, IID SCA modules, and backend database layers.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • BPM Platform: Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience explicitly working with IBM BAW (25.x) ecosystems.
  • Integration Tooling: Proven expertise with IBM Integration Designer (IID) building advanced SOA-based integration layers and long-running BPEL flows.
  • Java Stack: Strong programming proficiency in Core Java, JEE, Hibernate/JPA, and web services infrastructure.
  • Database Stack: Solid working knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) with excellent SQL query optimization and stored procedure debugging skills.
  • Web Technologies: Comprehensive understanding of Web Services (RESTful APIs, SOAP, WSDL), data exchange formats (XML, XSD, JSON), and frontend languages (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3).
  • Methodology: Strong experience working within an Agile/Scrum development model.

Soft Skills & Educational Background

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and debugging skills to trace data across decoupled components (Process Center \rightarrow Advanced Integration Layer / rightarrow DB Engine).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with business analysts, system architects, and project stakeholders.

Preferred Certifications (Good to Have)

  • IBM Certified Application Developer - Business Automation Workflow / BPM
  • Oracle Certified Associate/Professional Java Programmer (OCAJP / OCPJP)
