Technology Lead – HealthTech & MedTech
The Centre for Technology Innovation & Incubation (CFTII) at LVPEI operates at the convergence of clinical need, translational research, and engineering. We build and scale biomedical devices, diagnostic imaging tools, digital health platforms, and AI-enabled solutions across five core technical domains: Optics & Imaging, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Software & AI, and Product Design.
Role Overview
As Technology Lead, you will bridge clinical needs and engineering execution. You will lead and actively build multidisciplinary healthcare technologies—taking products from problem identification through rapid prototyping, systems integration, clinical validation, regulatory readiness, and technology transfer.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring bench-level engineering execution, cross-domain system integration, and collaborative problem-solving alongside clinicians, researchers, and external engineering partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems Integration & Technical Leadership: Architect and integrate multi-domain systems (optics, mechanical hardware, embedded electronics, and software/AI) into functional, clinical-grade medical devices.
- Hands-on Prototyping: Directly contribute to CAD/3D printing, circuit/embedded hardware reviews, optical assembly, or AI model integration to advance concepts from bench to prototype.
- Clinical Translation: Partner directly with ophthalmologists, surgeons, and researchers to convert clinical protocols and user workflows into measurable technical specifications.
- Engineering Lifecycle Management: Manage product timelines, conduct cross-disciplinary design reviews, establish build standards, and oversee internal engineers and external fabrication partners.
- Regulatory, IP & Tech Transfer: Ensure technical documentation meets medical device quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485), document IP, and support technology transfer toward commercialization.
Candidate Profile
Must-Haves (Ranked by Priority)
1. Hands-on MedTech Development & Rapid Prototyping: Demonstrated experience building, physically assembling, and testing Biomedical or MedTech devices—not just managing schedules.
2. Multidisciplinary Systems Engineering: Proven ability to lead and integrate cross-functional hardware and software projects spanning mechanical engineering, electronics, optics, software, or design.
3. Clinical Need Translation & Regulatory Awareness: Experience collaborating with medical professionals to translate clinical workflows into product specifications, with a basic working knowledge of medical device regulatory pathways and IP documentation.
Good-to-Haves
1. Optics, Medical Imaging, or Ophthalmic Experience: Direct work with optical systems, cameras, sensors, illumination, or healthcare computer vision/AI models.
2. Commercialization & Tech Transfer: Exposure to taking prototypes through pilot manufacturing, licensing, GTM, or startup spin-offs.
3. Intellectual Output: Granted/pending patents or peer-reviewed publications in biomedical/tech domains.
4. Immediate Availability: Ability to join within 30 days.
