Senior Software Engineer
Overview
Microsoft 365 is the world’s leading productivity service, trusted by hundreds of millions of users worldwide. Microsoft 365 Core Platform is at the center of it all, building foundational, secure, and intelligent services that connect enterprise content with Microsoft 365 Copilot and the experiences people use every day. Our work helps customers unlock knowledge across email, documents, messages, and business applications so that people and AI agents can find, understand, and act on the right information.
The Connectors team is building the extensibility and data-access layer that brings enterprise knowledge into Microsoft 365 Copilot. This includes first-party (1P) Microsoft Graph Connectors that ingest and index high-value content, and Federated Copilot Connectors (FCC) that enable secure, real-time access to external systems. The team’s work is critical to expanding Copilot’s reach, grounding quality, freshness, and enterprise trust across a broad ecosystem of data sources.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who combines solid engineering fundamentals with an AI-native mindset. You will solve ambiguous, cross-stack problems; turn emerging AI capabilities into reliable product experiences; and work closely with partner teams in a co-development model. You are curious, innovative, customer-focused, and motivated to deliver measurable impact through secure, scalable, and high-quality connector experiences.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, building, and operating connector capabilities across 1P Graph Connectors and FCC. You will influence architecture and engineering practices, partner across organizational boundaries, and help create a consistent platform that connector teams can use to ship secure, reliable, and AI-ready integrations at scale.
About
We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about creating high-quality connector platforms and delivering end-to-end outcomes. As an engineer on our team, you will:
- Design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and reliable connector services spanning 1P Microsoft Graph Connectors and Federated Copilot Connectors.
- Build common platform capabilities and engineering patterns that improve connector onboarding, authentication, data ingestion or federation, observability, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Apply AI-native development practices throughout planning, design, implementation, testing, debugging, deployment, and operations while maintaining solid engineering judgment and accountability.
- Improve Copilot grounding and retrieval quality through data-driven experimentation, evaluation, telemetry, and rapid learning from customer and partner signals.
- Work across service, platform, developer tooling, and partner integration boundaries; contribute wherever needed to deliver an end-to-end customer outcome.
- Co-develop solutions with partner teams by aligning on contracts, sharing ownership, resolving integration issues, and creating reusable patterns for the broader connector ecosystem.
- Champion security, privacy, compliance, reliability, maintainability, automated testing, responsible AI, and live-site excellence from design through production.
- Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar through design and code reviews, and help foster an inclusive culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
