Asst Category Manager - VMS

Role Overview
This role will support in the day-to-day execution of the VMS portfolio. The role focuses on coordinating routine activities, maintaining trackers, conducting basic market and performance analysis, and following up with internal teams to keep product, packaging and production timelines on track.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Strategy and Performance Management
- Track sales, growth, margins and inventory performance at category and SKU level.
- Prepare regular dashboards and simple performance summaries for review by the Category Manager.
- Highlight performance gaps, slow-moving SKUs and basic pricing or inventory concerns.
Market Consumer and Competitive Research:
- Conduct desk research on consumer trends, ingredients, formats, claims, pricing and pack sizes in the nutraceutical market.
- Track competitor launches, packaging, promotions, ratings and reviews and share concise updates with the team.
Product Development and Packaging Closure:
- Support new product and renovation projects by maintaining briefs, timelines and approval trackers.
- Coordinate packaging artwork and pack-copy closure with R&D, regulatory, quality, legal, design, marketing, procurement and packaging vendors.
- Maintain version control for artwork, claims, specifications, barcodes and print-ready files, and follow up on pending approvals.
Cross Functional Coordination and Launch Execution:
- Coordinate routine follow-ups across marketing, sales, supply chain, R&D, regulatory, quality, procurement and manufacturing.
- Maintain project and launch trackers, circulate meeting notes and follow up with owners on agreed actions and timelines.
Production Planning and Inventory Management:
- Support sales and supply chain teams with demand inputs, production planning and launch quantities.
- Track production schedules, stock availability, stock-outs, excess inventory and near-expiry products, and flag exceptions promptly.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, pharmacy, life sciences, food technology, nutrition or a related field.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in category management, product management, brand management, commercial planning or new product development within a nutraceutical company.
- Basic working knowledge of the VMS category, product formats, ingredients, claims and packaging, with experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and timelines.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Microsoft Excel: Good working knowledge of pivot tables, XLOOKUP or similar formulas, SUMIFS, charts and data cleaning.
- AI competency: Comfort using generative AI for research, summaries, presentations and routine productivity, with appropriate fact-checking.
- Analytical ability: Ability to understand sales, margin and inventory reports and highlight relevant observations.
- Execution and communication: Organised, accurate and proactive in following up, documenting actions and coordinating with stakeholders.
