Full stack Engineer - AI

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain full stack applications and dashboards (backend + frontend) that invoke deployed ML/data models for a variety of use cases.
  • Write backend services in Python, integrating with model-serving endpoints exposed via Cloud Run and Vertex AI.
  • Build application logic and dashboard UIs that consume model outputs (predictions, scores, insights) and present them in usable, performant interfaces.
  • Manage Python environments using conda for reproducible, virtualized development and build environments.
  • Containerize applications using Docker, and publish/version images to Artifact Registry.
  • Integrate applications with GCP Load Balancers fronting Cloud Run endpoints, ensuring correct routing, health checks, and traffic management for dashboard/app front ends.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps engineer on CI/CD pipeline integration — ensuring app builds, tests, and deployments are automated end-to-end alongside model deployments.
  • Work with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to understand model input/output contracts (schemas, request/response formats) and build reliable integrations against them.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and secure API communication between applications and model endpoints across tenants/environments.
  • Build monitoring/logging hooks into applications (via Cloud Monitoring/Cloud Logging) to track usage, latency, and errors when invoking models.
  • Write clean, tested, maintainable code, and participate in code reviews across the two-person app engineering team.
  • Troubleshoot issues spanning frontend, backend, container, and network layers when applications don't behave as expected against model endpoints.
  • Contribute to documentation of application architecture, API contracts, and deployment processes.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a full stack engineer, with strong proficiency in Python for backend development.
  • Experience building frontend interfaces/dashboards (e.g., React, Vue, or Python-based dashboarding frameworks such as Streamlit/Dash) that consume backend/model APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with conda for Python environment/dependency management.
  • Experience containerizing applications with Docker and publishing images to a registry (Artifact Registry or equivalent).
  • Experience deploying and consuming services via Cloud Run, including working with services fronted by GCP Load Balancers.
  • Experience calling and integrating with model-serving/ML endpoints (e.g., Vertex AI endpoints or similar) from application code.
  • Solid understanding of REST/HTTP API design and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and working alongside DevOps to automate build/deploy pipelines.
  • Understanding of basic security practices for application-to-service communication (auth tokens, IAM, secrets handling).
