Technical Lead - Full Stack Developer

Role Summary
Provide hands-on technical leadership for the AI Build Line while building the web experiences and backend capabilities that make AI use-cases practical, secure, and easy to adopt. This role owns solution-level engineering quality, helps shape architecture, and coordinates delivery across the three-person pod.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and implementation for AI use-cases, balancing speed, reuse, operability, security, and user experience.
- Build responsive user interfaces using Angular and TypeScript.
- Build and maintain Java Spring Boot backend services and integrations.
- Define engineering standards for application architecture, code quality, testing, accessibility, error handling, observability, and documentation.
- Deploy and operate applications on Kubernetes and AWS, partnering with cloud and security teams on environment, network, identity, and runtime requirements.
- Build CI pipelines in GitHub Actions and CD pipelines in Harness; embed quality gates, security scanning, and deployment safeguards.
- Apply secure coding practices, including threat modeling, OWASP-aligned controls, authorization design, secure session handling, and dependency hygiene.
- Coach teammates through design reviews, pairing, code reviews, and practical engineering guidance.
- Partner with product and SMEs to convert use-cases into scoped releases, technical backlogs, and measurable outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Strong development full-stack software engineering experience, including experience leading technical delivery.
- Strong Angular and TypeScript development experience.
- Strong Java and Spring Boot backend development experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying applications to Kubernetes and AWS environments and building IaC code to deploy applications
- Experience with GitHub Actions and Harness or comparable enterprise CI/CD tooling.
- Strong expertise in secure software development and practical application-security controls.
- Ability to lead technical decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and work effectively across engineering, security, and product stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering AI-enabled applications, conversational interfaces, or human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Build and deploying Cloud Native applications using Infrastructure-as-Code: CDK/Helm Charts to AWS/K8s environments
- Experience with API management, cloud-native architecture, microservices, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Familiarity with design systems, accessibility, UX research, and product analytics.
- Experience supporting security, cloud, developer-platform, or regulated-enterprise products.

- Build reusable, secure, observable software that follows Nationwide’s AWS Golden Path and standard technology stack.
- Prioritize engineering quality, automated testing, security, resilience, and maintainability alongside delivery speed.
- Collaborate across core product team and cross-train with operational team, develop run books and move capabilities into production.

Education
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or related field is strongly preferred.
Experience
Six years of experience in programming and systems analysis. Three years of experience in project management is preferred.
