Senior AI/ML Engineer

We are currently hiring for an experienced Senior AI/ML Engineer with 5–8 years of professional experience in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining intelligent software solutions using Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and advanced data-driven technologies for one of our clients in Pune.

The role focuses on developing and implementing machine learning models, building AI-powered applications, optimizing model performance, and integrating intelligent capabilities into scalable, production-ready software solutions.

This role is suited to a hands-on AI/ML Engineer who has practical experience developing machine learning solutions and AI-driven products. The ideal candidate should be comfortable taking solutions from initial research and proof-of-concepts (POCs) through production deployment, working across the AI/ML lifecycle, and taking strong ownership of technical delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement machine learning models to solve real-world business problems.
• Develop and optimize AI/ML algorithms for accuracy, scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Analyze complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
• Build, train, evaluate, and fine-tune machine learning models using appropriate algorithms and techniques.
• Develop AI-powered applications and integrate machine learning capabilities into existing software systems.
• Take AI/ML proof-of-concepts from initial development through production implementation.
• Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning.
• Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and continuously improve model accuracy.
• Develop scalable and maintainable AI/ML solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data engineers, architects, product teams, and business stakeholders to integrate AI/ML solutions into enterprise applications.
• Work with structured and unstructured data to develop effective machine learning solutions.
• Implement model deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization practices for production environments.
• Troubleshoot model performance issues and conduct root-cause analysis to improve solution effectiveness.
• Research and evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies, algorithms, frameworks, and industry best practices.
• Ensure the reliability, scalability, maintainability, and quality of developed AI/ML solutions.
• Follow established software development standards, coding guidelines, testing practices, and engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and solution design activities.
• Take ownership of assigned development activities and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.

Required Skills / Primary Skills

• 5–8 years of professional experience in software development, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related technical roles.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
• Strong practical experience in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and developing AI-driven solutions.
• Experience designing, developing, training, evaluating, and optimizing machine learning models.
• Strong understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
• Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, and performance evaluation.
• Understanding of statistical methods, probability, and mathematical concepts relevant to machine learning.
• Experience translating business requirements into effective AI/ML solutions.
• Practical experience taking AI/ML POCs through to production-ready implementations.
• Understanding of model performance metrics, validation techniques, and optimization strategies.
• Ability to work with complex datasets and develop scalable, reliable machine learning solutions.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of enterprise software development principles and best practices.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to drive technical development activities independently.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.

Additional Skills

• Experience with programming languages such as Python and relevant AI/ML libraries.
• Hands-on experience with frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or Keras.
• Knowledge of deep learning, neural networks, and advanced machine learning techniques.
• Exposure to Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Experience with cloud-based AI/ML services on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Understanding of MLOps practices, including model deployment, versioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with Docker and containerized application development.
• Knowledge of REST APIs and integrating AI/ML models with enterprise applications.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices for AI/ML workflows.
• Familiarity with data engineering pipelines and large-scale data processing.
• Knowledge of model explainability, responsible AI, and AI governance principles.
• Experience with application monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience working in enterprise technology, SaaS products, or large-scale software environments.
• Experience collaborating with distributed engineering teams is an added advantage.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Education

• B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Candidates with 5–8 years of relevant experience will be considered based on their hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering, model development, production deployment, and ability to deliver scalable, business-focused AI solutions.
