## About the Role

Qmize is looking for a skilled and motivated **Software Developer** with 2–4 years of professional experience to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in **full-stack web development**, with particular expertise in **React + Vite, TypeScript, Nest.js, and MongoDB**. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining scalable product features across both frontend and backend.

This role is particularly suited for someone who enjoys solving real-world engineering problems and has experience working on products that handle **high volumes of data, API requests, users, or real-time interactions**, such as live messaging systems, communication platforms, bulk data processing systems, or other scalable SaaS products.

The candidate will work closely with other developers, product/technical stakeholders, and cross-functional team members and is expected to play an active and meaningful role in planning, execution, problem-solving, and timely delivery.

## Key Responsibilities

### Full-Stack Development

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using **React, Vite, TypeScript, Nest.js, and MongoDB**.
  • Build complete product features across both frontend and backend.
  • Translate business and product requirements into reliable, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Write clean, reusable, modular, and well-documented code.

### Frontend Development

  • Develop responsive and user-friendly interfaces using **React and Vite**.
  • Create reusable components and maintain a scalable frontend architecture.
  • Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and third-party services.
  • Handle frontend state, validation, error handling, loading states, and performance optimization.
  • Troubleshoot UI, browser, integration, and performance-related issues.

### Backend & API Development

  • Design and develop **RESTful APIs** and backend services using **Nest.js and TypeScript**.
  • Develop secure, reliable, and scalable backend modules.
  • Integrate internal and external APIs and third-party services.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, logging, and other backend fundamentals.
  • Work with MongoDB to design efficient data models, queries, indexes, and data access patterns.
  • Identify and resolve API, database, concurrency, and performance issues.

### Real-Time & High-Scale Systems

  • Design and develop **real-time features and communication systems** using technologies such as **WebSockets or Socket.IO**.
  • Work with live messaging, notifications, real-time status updates, and event-driven workflows.
  • Develop systems capable of handling **high traffic, concurrent users, large datasets, and high-volume API operations**.
  • Implement and maintain **queues, background jobs, asynchronous processing, and bulk data-processing workflows**.
  • Work with **Redis, caching mechanisms, and message brokers** to improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement appropriate solutions for throughput, latency, concurrency, and resource utilization.

### API Integration

  • Integrate third-party APIs and external services into the product.
  • Understand API documentation and independently implement integrations.
  • Handle authentication, webhooks, retries, failures, rate limits, and API error scenarios.
  • Develop robust integrations that remain reliable under production conditions.

### Security & Reliability

  • Implement secure application and API practices across frontend and backend.
  • Apply appropriate authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Implement and understand **API security, rate limiting, input validation, secure data handling, and common web application security practices**.
  • Identify potential security and reliability issues and contribute to preventive measures.

### Testing & Quality

  • Write and maintain **automated tests** for application features and APIs.
  • Follow appropriate testing practices and contribute to test coverage.
  • Experience with **test-driven development (TDD)** or similar development methodologies is required.
  • Ensure features are properly tested before release and help prevent regressions.

### Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative software development team.
  • Participate actively in technical discussions, design decisions, code reviews, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth delivery of features and releases.
  • Take ownership of assigned modules while supporting the team when required.
  • Contribute beyond individual tasks and play a crucial role in achieving team objectives.

### Planning & Execution

  • Understand requirements, break them into actionable technical tasks, and estimate effort realistically.
  • Plan and execute assigned work within agreed timelines.
  • Proactively communicate progress, dependencies, risks, and blockers.
  • Take responsibility for delivering features from development through testing and deployment support.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively while maintaining code quality and product stability.

### Production Support & Problem Solving

  • Investigate and resolve bugs and production issues.
  • Diagnose problems across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and implement preventive fixes.
  • Monitor application behavior and contribute to improving system reliability and performance.

## Good to Have

The following would be advantageous:

  • Experience with **Docker** and containerized applications.
  • Knowledge of **Nginx** and reverse proxy configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with **AWS** services and cloud deployments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and logging.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture.
  • Experience optimizing cloud infrastructure and application costs.

## Education

  • Strong practical development experience and demonstrated project work may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

## Experience Level

**2–4 years of relevant professional software development experience.**

Candidates should be able to demonstrate meaningful experience in **production systems**, particularly systems involving APIs, real-time communication, messaging, high-volume processing, or scalable SaaS applications.

## Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a **hands-on full-stack developer** who is comfortable moving between React-based frontend development and Nest.js/TypeScript backend development.

You should be able to take a requirement, understand its technical implications, break it down into tasks, design the solution, build the frontend and backend, integrate required APIs, implement appropriate testing and security, troubleshoot issues, and contribute towards getting the feature successfully deployed.

Experience with **real-time messaging, queues, background processing, Redis, scalable APIs, bulk data processing, and SaaS products** is essential for this role.
