Shopify Automation Testing (JavaScript/typescript and playwrite experience must)

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Shopify Automation Testing Engineer with strong JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright experience. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts for Shopify storefronts and related integrations, ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability across browsers and devices. Day-to-day tasks include creating and executing test cases, debugging and troubleshooting issues, collaborating with developers and product owners, and validating new features and updates before deployment. The engineer will contribute to test frameworks, improve automation coverage, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and document test results and quality metrics. The role also includes recommending process improvements, aligning testing practices with quality assurance standards, and supporting ongoing enhancements to the automation strategy.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with JavaScript and TypeScript, and hands-on expertise in Playwright for end-to-end test automation.
• Skills in Process Automation and Automation to design, implement, and optimize test automation workflows and frameworks.
• Ability to create, maintain, and execute structured Test Cases for Shopify features, themes, apps, and integrations.
• Proficiency in Troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in test scripts, environments, and application behavior.
• Background in Quality Assurance, including test planning, defect tracking, regression testing, and adherence to QA best practices.
• Experience testing Shopify or other modern e-commerce platforms, including checkout flows, APIs, third-party apps, and responsive layouts.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar) to integrate automated tests into deployment pipelines.
• Comfort working in remote, cross-functional teams with clear communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with attention to detail and a focus on reliability.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
