At Vistance Networks, we foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence, committed to delivering value to our customers and creating opportunities for our employees to grow and excel in their careers.

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our dynamic cable access engineering team. In this role, you will work closely with our US-based systems architects, software, and hardware teams to develop and maintain firmware for next-generation Full Duplex (FDX) Cable Amplifiers and smart RF nodes. Your focus will be on designing embedded Linux-based firmware that interfaces with Broadcom broadband SoC platforms, implementing dynamic RF control loops such as AGC, tilt, and gain, and managing modern cable plant telemetry using protocols like gNMI, Protobuf, and MQTT. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that enhance the reliability and performance of broadband networks worldwide.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in embedded software or firmware development. Strong proficiency in modern C and C++ programming is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of RF fundamentals, especially in the context of cable and RF transmission paths, including dynamic signal management and AGC control loops. Experience working with Broadcom broadband SoCs and SDKs at the register and hardware abstraction levels is required. Additionally, applicants should have deep expertise in Embedded Linux driver development, Linux networking internals, and peripheral bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, and UART. Practical experience implementing telemetry and serialization protocols like gNMI, Protobuf, JSON, and MQTT is also necessary. Effective communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate with US-based teams are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Develop low-level firmware using Broadcom SDKs tailored for broadband and cable access SoCs to initialize, configure, and monitor RF hardware components.

Implement embedded control loops for AGC, ALC, tilt, dynamic power management, and echo cancellation within full duplex RF amplification stages.

Control on-board peripherals, RF attenuators, equalizers, power amplifiers, and environmental sensors through I2C, SPI, and GPIO interfaces.

Design, develop, and maintain custom Linux kernel drivers, character devices, and user-space daemons that interact directly with hardware registers and memory-mapped I/O.

Architect and implement modern out-of-band management and telemetry systems utilizing gNMI, Protobuf, JSON, and MQTT protocols for real-time device health and RF performance monitoring.

Collaborate actively with US-based firmware, RF hardware, and systems engineering teams through design reviews, code reviews, and architectural planning sessions.

Perform hardware bring-up on custom Broadcom SoC evaluation boards and production hardware, utilizing oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and RF spectrum analyzers for validation and troubleshooting.

Contribute to continuous improvement of firmware processes, ensuring robustness, efficiency, and scalability of the solutions developed.

Benefits

Vistance Networks offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our employees' well-being and professional growth. This includes competitive salary packages, health insurance coverage, retirement plans, and paid time off.
