The Connectors team is building the extensibility and data-access layer that brings enterprise knowledge into Microsoft 365 Copilot. This includes first-party (1P) Microsoft Graph Connectors that ingest and index high-value content, and Federated Copilot Connectors (FCC) that enable secure, real-time access to external systems. The team’s work is critical to expanding Copilot’s reach, grounding quality, freshness, and enterprise trust across a broad ecosystem of data sources.

We are looking for a Software Engineer II who combines solid engineering fundamentals with an AI-native mindset. You will solve well-scoped technical problems, turn emerging AI capabilities into reliable product experiences, and collaborate with partner teams in a co-development model. Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer II, you will design, build, test, and operate connector capabilities across 1P Graph Connectors and FCC. You will contribute to technical designs and engineering practices, collaborate across team boundaries, and help deliver secure, reliable, and AI-ready integrations using shared platform capabilities.

About

We are looking for an engineer who is passionate about creating high-quality connector platforms and delivering end-to-end outcomes. As an engineer on our team, you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and operate secure and reliable connector features spanning 1P Microsoft Graph Connectors and Federated Copilot Connectors.
  • Contribute to shared platform capabilities and engineering patterns that improve connector onboarding, authentication, data ingestion or federation, observability, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools and AI-native development practices across planning, implementation, testing, debugging, deployment, and operations, with appropriate review and engineering judgment.
  • Use telemetry, evaluation results, and customer or partner feedback to improve Copilot grounding, retrieval quality, and connector reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineers across service, platform, developer tooling, and partner integration areas to deliver well-defined end-to-end outcomes.
  • Participate in co-development with partner teams by aligning on interfaces, implementing agreed components, resolving integration issues, and documenting reusable learnings.
  • Follow solid practices for security, privacy, compliance, reliability, maintainability, automated testing, responsible AI, and live-site support.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, share knowledge with teammates, and contribute to an inclusive culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • OR equivalent experience.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience, including developing, testing, and supporting production software or cloud services.
  • Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages and a working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, APIs, distributed systems, and cloud service fundamentals.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools and an ability to apply AI-native development practices effectively and responsibly with appropriate validation.
  • A learning and innovation mindset, with the ability to explore ideas, build prototypes, use data to learn, and contribute to product or platform improvements.
  • Ability to contribute across service and integration layers and collaborate effectively with partner teams in a co-development model.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to make progress on moderately complex problems with guidance when needed.
  • Experience with Microsoft Graph, enterprise search or retrieval, connectors, identity and authorization, data ingestion, or cloud services is a plus.
