Lead Product Manager (Flights)
Role: Lead Product Management
Location: Gurugram
About The Function
Flights is MakeMyTrip's flagship business, serving millions of travellers across domestic and international routes. Within it, Flights Supply is the engine behind every fare a customer sees, books and gets serviced on. It covers connectivity with airlines, GDS, NDC and aggregators, and the content, pricing and servicing capabilities built on top.
As the business scales, the supply stack must be more reliable, more accurate and less dependent on manual effort. We are building supply systems that detect problems before customers do, reduce the cost of servicing, keep content and pricing in parity with the source, and use AI to automate work that has traditionally been manual.
The Flights Supply team combines deep distribution knowledge, data-driven decision making and strong engineering partnerships. Product managers, analysts, engineers, designers and business teams work together to make every booking dependable and every servicing journey efficient.
About The Role
We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to own a significant area within Flights Supply, such as supply-side conversion, content and pricing efficiency, or escalations and cost of servicing. This role requires strong product thinking, a quick grasp of technical systems, execution excellence and a passion for solving problems with data and AI.
You will own the roadmap, metrics and execution for your area, working closely with engineering, airline and distribution partners, finance, customer support and the funnel product team to deliver measurable improvements in reliability, conversion and cost.
What will you be doing
- Own the product roadmap, priorities and metrics for a defined area within a Flights Supply charter, aligned with the charter direction.
- Work with engineering on GDS, NDC, LCC and aggregator integrations. Understand how fares, availability and ticketing flow, find where they break, and drive fixes and monitoring.
- Identify high-impact supply problems, such as price mismatch, fare unavailability, content gaps and recurring escalations, and translate them into scalable product opportunities.
- Improve content parity (fare rules, baggage, ancillaries) against source and competitors, and improve pricing and fare-loading tooling.
- Use AI to catch problems earlier and cut manual effort: detect fare and content anomalies, classify and root-cause escalations, and convert unstructured airline inputs (fare rules, schedule-change notices, airline circulars) into structured data the system can act on.
- Run onboarding of new airlines and NDC/API partners from requirements to go-live.
- Define clear hypotheses, success metrics and measurement frameworks for every initiative.
- Own product KPIs and continuously improve performance through data analysis, experimentation and stakeholder feedback.
- Write detailed specs and groom stories in depth with tech, so edge cases are caught before development, not after go-live.
- Balance short-term business needs with long-term platform and automation investments.
- Lead end-to-end execution from concept to launch and post-launch optimisation, and flag risks and delays early.
Qualification & Experience
- Management graduates from reputed institutes with 6 to 8 years of experience in product management roles for consumer-facing, technology-enabled businesses, with at least 2 years in flights, OTA, airline or travel-distribution products.
- Experience managing the complete product lifecycle using agile methodologies, including requirement definition, prioritisation and metric tracking.
- Experience working with complex datasets using analytical tools and techniques. Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and SQL is expected.
- Working knowledge of GDS (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport), NDC, LCC and aggregator models, plus fare, ticketing and servicing basics, will be an added advantage.
- Prior experience with dashboards and product analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Amplitude or Mixpanel will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with the Indian travel market and its seasonality is a plus.
You Will Operate At The Intersection Of
- Supply Technology + Distribution + Data Science + AI-powered Automation
- Platform Reliability + Conversion + Cost Efficiency
- Partner and Customer Understanding + Data-Driven Decision Making
You will identify high-impact opportunities, validate solutions quickly, and scale products that create measurable value for customers and the business.
Key Success Factors for the Role
- Strong product thinking, with the ability to turn ambiguous business problems into structured product solutions.
- Ability to quickly build a deep understanding of flight distribution, and how technical decisions influence reliability, cost and scalability.
- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to work with large datasets, sanity-check outputs and deliver insights and recommendations, not just numbers.
- Curiosity about ML and GenAI and their application to supply operations.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across business, engineering, analytics, finance and partner teams.
- High ownership mindset, with the ability to drive initiatives independently from ideation to execution, communicate proactively and deliver on time.
