Fandoro is building technology for responsible businesses and investors.
Our platform brings together ESG data, sustainability frameworks, climate intelligence, risk assessment and workflows to help businesses and capital allocators make better decisions.
We are now building the next layer of Fandoro: a proprietary ESG Intelligence Engine that combines our domain knowledge and data with AI, machine learning and LLM technologies.
This is an opportunity to join Fandoro at an early stage of that journey and play a foundational role in shaping the technology.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on AI & Data Lead who can architect and build Fandoro’s AI and data layer.
This is not a traditional Data Scientist role and it is not simply an “LLM Engineer” role.
We are looking for someone who can work across:
Data → ML → ESG intelligence → LLM/RAG → AI agents → APIs → production systems
You will work closely with the Founder/CEO and the ESG domain team to convert Fandoro’s proprietary ESG knowledge and data into scalable intelligence products.
What you will own
* Design Fandoro’s ESG data and intelligence architecture
* Build the foundations of our proprietary ESG Intelligence Engine
* Develop ESG scoring, risk and benchmarking models
* Design data pipelines for structured and unstructured ESG data
* Build RAG and knowledge systems over ESG regulations, frameworks, methodologies and company data
* Work with embeddings, vector databases and knowledge graphs where appropriate
* Build and evaluate LLM-powered applications and agents
* Develop AI workflows for use cases such as ESG due diligence, BRSR, materiality, climate risk and ESG remediation
* Establish model evaluation, accuracy and hallucination-control mechanisms
* Design APIs and services that expose AI capabilities to the Fandoro platform
* Decide when to use foundation models, fine-tuning, RAG or traditional ML
* Establish good practices around AI security, governance and responsible AI
* Work with the engineering team to take prototypes into production
* Build systems that can progressively learn from Fandoro’s proprietary data
The technology stack may include
Python | SQL | PostgreSQL | FastAPI | Pandas | scikit-learn | PyTorch | LLM APIs | RAG | Embeddings | Vector databases / pgvector | Knowledge graphs | Cloud | REST APIs
You do not need to know every technology listed above.
What matters is that you are a strong builder who can learn quickly and make good architectural decisions.
What we’re looking for
* 5–10 years of strong software/data/ML experience
* Strong Python and SQL
* Hands-on experience building production ML or AI systems
* Strong understanding of LLMs and modern GenAI architectures
* Experience with RAG, embeddings and vector databases
* Experience designing data pipelines and data models
* Strong understanding of APIs and backend systems
* Ability to take an idea from problem → architecture → prototype → production
* Strong engineering fundamentals
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Curiosity and willingness to understand ESG/business problems deeply
A major plus
Experience with any of the following:
* ESG / sustainability
* Climate / climate risk
* Financial services
* Risk modelling
* Knowledge graphs
* Enterprise SaaS
* Responsible AI
* Regulatory intelligence
* Document intelligence
* B2B AI products
What this role is NOT
This role is not for someone who:
* Only wants to work on research
* Only builds notebooks and models without productionising them
* Has only worked with prompt engineering
* Expects a large engineering team around them
* Needs detailed specifications for every task
We are building a small, high-performance technology team.
You will have significant ownership.
