About The Role
As a Lead Engineer – Embedded Software Development (LPB2), you will play a pivotal role in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the firmware for the MarkVIe control platform. Operating within a collaborative, international environment, you will be responsible for translating complex system requirements into robust firmware architectures, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. Your leadership will guide cross-functional teams through the entire software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing and deployment. This role demands a deep technical expertise, innovative problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. A minimum of 6-9 years of professional experience in embedded software development is required, with demonstrated proficiency in hands-on coding, troubleshooting, and system integration. Candidates should have advanced skills in C and C++, with a strong understanding of microprocessor architectures and experience working with preemptive, multitasking Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), preferably QNX. Proven experience working within Agile development environments and utilizing automated unit testing frameworks is essential. Proficiency with software configuration management tools, defect tracking systems, and peer review processes is also expected. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are vital for effective collaboration within diverse, global teams.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Translate high-level system requirements into detailed firmware architectures and low-level design specifications to ensure system robustness and efficiency.
- Full-Cycle Development: Lead the end-to-end development process, including design, coding, testing, and debugging of mission-critical software for the MarkVIe platform.
- Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance metrics to enhance efficiency, stability, and scalability, ensuring compliance with stringent power generation standards.
- Validation & Integration: Collaborate with testing teams to develop and execute comprehensive verification and validation plans, integrating new product features seamlessly.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct detailed technical reviews of design documents, source code, and unit test frameworks to uphold high-quality standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a primary interface between hardware design, systems engineering, and product teams to facilitate smooth development processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote automation initiatives such as unit and regression testing, fostering a culture of ongoing process and product enhancement.
- Lifecycle Management: Oversee software throughout all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial development to long-term maintenance and updates.
- Assessment: Evaluate third-party and open-source software components, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and integration best practices.
