Key Responsibilities

  • CI/CD, Automation & Application Deployment
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins for automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
  • Build and manage Docker images and containers; support containerized application deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Work with developers to deploy and operate Node.js applications across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Write and maintain Bash scripts to automate routine operations, deployments, health checks, and log-management tasks.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure Management
  • Provision, configure, and maintain infrastructure on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including compute instances, virtual cloud networks (VCNs), storage, access controls, and related cloud services.
  • Use Terraform to define, provision, and manage infrastructure as code; maintain reusable configurations and track changes safely.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure availability, resource utilization, logs, and performance; investigate incidents and support root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain environment configuration and deployment documentation, and follow controlled change and rollback procedures.
  • Databases, Messaging & Caching
  • Support the setup, configuration, monitoring, backup, restore, and troubleshooting of PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Support Redis for caching and related operational tasks, and Kafka for messaging/broker health and basic troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with development teams on database connectivity, performance, capacity, access permissions, and service availability.
  • Help verify backup completion and participate in restore testing; follow approved procedures for database changes.
  • Security, Reliability & Disaster Recovery
  • Apply infrastructure security best practices, including least-privilege access, secrets handling, secure configurations, and timely patching.
  • Support access management, firewall/network rules, vulnerability remediation, and secure handling of credentials and configuration files.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining backup and disaster recovery (DR) procedures, recovery documentation, and periodic DR/restore tests.
  • Monitor service alerts, respond to incidents, escalate risks promptly, and participate in on-call or scheduled production support as required.

Required Technical Skills

  • Containers: Docker images, containers, registries, volumes, networks, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Cloud: Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including compute, networking, IAM, storage, and monitoring fundamentals.
  • CI/CD & IaC: Jenkins pipeline fundamentals and Terraform for infrastructure provisioning.
  • Databases & Services: Operational familiarity with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, Redis, Kafka, and Node.js application deployments.
  • Scripting: Bash scripting for automation and routine system administration.
  • Security & DR: Basic server hardening, access management, patching, backup/restore, monitoring, and disaster recovery concepts.
  • Operating Systems & Networking: Linux administration, command-line troubleshooting, DNS, TCP/IP, ports, and basic networking.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in DevOps, cloud/infrastructure operations, deployment automation, or system administration.
  • Candidates should be comfortable learning new tools, working with developers, and following documented operational procedures.
  • Cloud, Linux, Docker, Jenkins, or Terraform certifications are a plus, but are not mandatory.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Reliability and success rate of CI/CD pipelines and deployments.
  • Timely resolution or escalation of infrastructure and deployment incidents.
  • Availability and health monitoring of applications, databases, and cloud resources.
  • Completion of scheduled backups and participation in successful restore/DR tests.
  • Infrastructure changes documented and managed through approved automation and change-control processes.

Note: The role is intended for an early-career engineer. Practical hands-on knowledge of the listed technologies is preferred. Experience supporting workloads hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is required.
