Role Description This full-time remote Principal Consultant role is responsible for guiding clients in successfully implementing and optimizing Taxcart’s global tax engine. The Principal Consultant will lead discovery and solution design sessions, analyze client business processes, and define system configurations and integrations to meet tax compliance needs. Day-to-day, this role will oversee project delivery, coordinate with technical teams, and provide strategic recommendations to improve tax workflows and end-to-end transaction flows. The Principal Consultant will act as a trusted advisor to client leadership, provide ongoing support and training, and help identify opportunities to expand usage of Taxcart solutions. This position also contributes to internal best practices, documentation, and thought leadership on tax automation and global compliance.
Qualifications
- Strong consulting skills, including client-facing communication, requirements gathering, solution design, and stakeholder management.
- Experience with tax automation, sales tax, VAT, GST, or broader indirect tax compliance, preferably in SaaS or ERP/integration projects.
- Proficiency in project leadership: scoping, planning, risk management, and steering multiple engagements in a remote environment.
- Technical aptitude with APIs, ERP systems, e-commerce platforms, and data integration concepts, with the ability to translate business needs into system configurations.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, including process mapping, data analysis, and optimization of complex workflows.
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing proposals, documentation, and client-facing presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities across multiple projects, and collaborate effectively in a distributed team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree or professional tax/consulting certifications are a plus.
- Prior experience in a Principal, Lead, or Senior Consultant role within technology, tax, or enterprise software implementation is highly beneficial.
