Senior Backend Node.js Engineer | 7+ Years | Onsite | Bangalore | Immediate Joiners Only

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with 8–10+ years of experience and strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript. The role combines system design, end-to-end delivery, production ownership, mentoring, and modern AI-assisted engineering, with a focus on building reliable, scalable, and secure production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Own architecture for significant platform domains, including data models, service boundaries, and API contracts.
• Drive projects end-to-end from problem definition and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Make sound technical decisions and clearly communicate trade-offs and recommendations.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, technical guidance, code reviews, and documentation.
• Conduct code reviews focused on architecture, correctness, maintainability, performance, and reliability.
• Use modern AI-assisted development tools and validate AI-generated outputs effectively.
• Contribute to production AI capabilities, including LLM integrations, retrieval-based architectures, prompt design, and agentic workflows.
• Build with strong observability and operational readiness and participate in production incident response.
• Apply secure development practices covering data, APIs, authentication, authorization, and application-level risks.

Required Skills

Node.js & TypeScript: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial hands-on experience in Node.js and TypeScript.

System Design & Architecture: Strong experience architecting non-trivial systems and explaining technical trade-offs and alternatives.

Databases: Strong relational database and data modelling skills, particularly with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, and query-performance optimization.

API & Distributed Systems: Experience designing and building APIs and distributed or service-oriented systems.

End-to-End Delivery: Proven ability to independently deliver projects from design through production.

Leadership & Mentoring: Experience mentoring engineers through pairing, technical guidance, and code reviews.

AI-Assisted Engineering: Practical, current proficiency with AI development tools, with good judgment around their capabilities, limitations, and the need for verification.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical decisions clearly.

Nice-to-Have-Skills

• Experience working in a startup or small engineering team.
• Experience with LLM integrations, retrieval architectures (RAG), or agentic workflows.
• Hands-on MongoDB experience, particularly migration and data-validation work.
• Experience with AWS and Kubernetes, including EKS, EC2, ALB, SQS, and SES.
• Experience with monorepo tooling such as Turborepo or pnpm workspaces.
• Experience modernizing, replacing, or running alongside legacy systems in production.
• Domain exposure to travel, fintech, or accounting.
