Technical Engineering Manager
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Delivery & Planning
- Partner with Product Management to drive planning for upcoming ClarionDoor features—new rating lines, carrier PAS integrations, portal capabilities, distribution channel expansions, and Apex AI/MCP features.
- Own sprint planning, backlog refinement (1–2 sprints ahead), sprint reviews, and retrospectives for the ClarionDoor squad.
- Maintain accurate target dates and release-item health in Jira so stakeholders always have a trustworthy forecast; own the release calendar.
- Identify and resolve cross-team impediments across Go, PHP/Laravel, and TypeScript service boundaries; escalate blockers quickly with full context.AI & Engineering Excellence
- Champion the squad's adoption of AI-assisted development—normalize the .specify/speckit + Claude agent workflow for feature development and drive the multi-agent QA test automation framework (Testing-Modules).
- Facilitate release integrity: coordinate the baseline and regression verification workflow that runs automated Playwright suites around every release.
- Work with Tech Leads to identify, prioritize, and schedule technical debt reduction across the Go rating engine, PHP/Laravel portal, and TypeScript MCP codebase.
- Evaluate operational cost (support load, services effort, content team impact) of proposed solutions and influence scope accordingly.Communication & Transparency
- Act as the squad's primary point of contact for release coordination—communicate deploy readiness, Octopus Deploy rollout plans, and fallout response.
- Increase roadmap transparency within and across teams; ensure engineers understand the business WHY behind every initiative.
- Facilitate Sprint Reviews and weekly Project Health checks; provide high-level updates at Delivery Project Reviews.
- Drive consistent UX handoff processes between design and engineering to reduce expectation gaps at delivery.YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE
Required
- 3+ years of experience as a Delivery Lead, Engineering Manager, Scrum Master, or Technical Project Manager on a software product team.
- Deep familiarity with agile methodologies—Scrum and Kanban—including facilitation of ceremonies and continuous improvement of delivery processes.
- Proven ability to coordinate delivery across multiple services or components with independent release cadences.
- Technical fluency sufficient to assess engineering effort across polyglot codebases (Go, PHP, TypeScript) and have credible conversations with engineers.
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to both engineering teams and business stakeholders.Preferred
- Experience with GitLab and GitHub for source control and CI/CD, Jira for sprint and release management, and Octopus Deploy or similar deployment tooling.
- Experience in insurance technology, InsurTech, or financial services SaaS—familiarity with carrier workflows, PAS systems, or rating/quoting products is a strong plus.
- Exposure to AI-assisted software development—understanding of how teams integrate LLM coding agents, agentic workflows (like .specify/speckit), and MCP-based services into their SDLC.
- Background as a Tech Lead or software engineer—someone who's written production code and understands what makes polyglot engineering teams productive.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Less volatile planning, fewer emergency pivots, and consistently accurate release forecasts across all three service layers. The squad ships value to carriers and MGAs on a predictable cadence through Octopus Deploy. Tech Leads focus on engineering quality because you've cleared their path. The Katalon-to-Playwright migration is complete. The AI initiative—.specify, quin/mcp, portal-mcp, multi-agent QA—is standard practice, not aspiration.
