Alpha Male is one of India's first premium, science-backed men's wellness brands. We sell direct-to-consumer, and our brand is built on trust, discretion, education and a premium experience. We're a young, fast-growing team based in Mumbai.

About the Role

We're building our own custom D2C e-commerce platform from scratch. You will design the architecture, build, launch and maintain the complete platform: website, order flow, payments, shipping, admin panel, CRM, automations and reporting. You will be the technical owner of our D2C stack and work directly with leadership.

Tech Stack

MongoDB, Express.js, React / Next.js, Node.js (MongoDB Atlas, AWS / Vercel, GitHub)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

1. Planning & Architecture

• Understand business requirements and convert them into a technical plan and timeline
• Design the system architecture, database schema and API structure
• Work with the UI/UX designer and build from approved Figma designs
• Set up the GitHub repository, coding standards, and staging and production environments

2. Storefront (Customer Website)

• Build a fast, SEO-friendly, mobile-first website using Next.js (SSR / SSG)
• Home, collection and product pages, combos and bundles, search, blog / education pages, FAQs, about and policy pages
• SEO setup: meta tags, sitemap, schema markup, clean URLs and page speed (Core Web Vitals)
• Customer reviews and ratings, trust badges and offer banners

3. Cart, Checkout & Customer Accounts

• Cart, coupons and discounts, OTP-based login and saved addresses
• Pincode serviceability check, prepaid and COD options, order summary
• Customer account: profile, order history, order tracking, reorder, returns and refunds

4. Payment Gateway Integration

• Integrate Razorpay / Cashfree (UPI, cards, net banking, wallets)
• Server-side payment verification through webhooks and signature checks (never trusting the browser alone)
• Failed-payment handling and retry, refunds through the gateway API
• Daily payment-to-order reconciliation so every successful payment creates an order

5. Orders, Invoicing & Inventory

• Complete order lifecycle: placed, confirmed, packed, shipped, delivered, cancelled, returned
• GST-compliant invoice generation (PDF)
• Real-time inventory updates, with no overselling of the last unit

6. Shipping & Logistics Integration

• Integrate Shiprocket (or similar): order push, AWB generation, label printing
• Live order tracking for customers, delivery status updates, NDR handling
• COD remittance tracking

7. Admin Panel

• Secure admin with role-based access (admin, operations, marketing, support)
• Manage products, variants, prices, inventory, orders, customers, coupons, banners and returns
• Bulk actions, order exports and activity logs

8. CRM

• Customer profiles with full purchase history
• Tags, segments, lifetime value and repeat-purchase tracking
• Customer data available for marketing and retention campaigns

9. Automations (WhatsApp, SMS & Email)

• Order confirmation, shipping, delivery and refund updates
• Abandoned-cart recovery, reorder reminders, review requests and COD-to-prepaid nudges
• Integrate WhatsApp Business API, MSG91 (SMS / OTP) and an email service (AWS SES / Resend)

10. Tracking, Analytics & Reports

• Set up GA4, Meta Pixel + Conversions API and Google Ads conversion tracking
• Product feed for Google Merchant Center and Meta catalogue
• Reports dashboard: sales, orders, AOV, repeat rate, SKU performance, COD vs prepaid

11. Hosting, Security & Performance

• Deploy and manage hosting on AWS / Vercel / Render with SSL, domain and CDN
• Secure authentication, input validation, rate limiting and secure handling of secrets
• No card data stored, with customer data protected in line with India's DPDP Act
• Automated database backups, error monitoring (Sentry) and uptime monitoring
• Keep the site fast and stable during sales and high-traffic periods

12. Day-to-Day Maintenance

• Daily: check errors and uptime, reconcile payments with orders, fix urgent issues
• Weekly: bug fixes, content and product updates, backup checks, speed review
• Monthly: security and package updates, performance report, new features as planned
• Test every change on staging before it goes live

13. Documentation & Ownership

• Maintain clear documentation: README, API docs, architecture and setup guides
• Keep all code, servers and accounts in the company's name
• Write clean, maintainable code so the platform can scale and be handed over easily

14. Collaboration

• Work with leadership on priorities and timelines, with regular progress updates
• Work with the performance marketing team on tracking, landing pages and offers
• Work with operations and customer support on order, shipping and return issues

REQUIREMENTS

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with MongoDB, Express, React and Node.js
• Has built and launched at least one live e-commerce or payment-enabled web application
• Experience integrating payment gateways (Razorpay / Cashfree / PayU) with webhooks
• Strong experience with Next.js for SEO-friendly, high-performance websites
• Experience integrating third-party APIs (shipping, SMS, WhatsApp, email)
• Experience deploying and maintaining production apps on AWS, Vercel or Render
• Good understanding of security, performance and database design
• Clean, documented code and a strong sense of ownership

GOOD TO HAVE

• TypeScript, Redis, Docker and CI/CD
• WhatsApp Business API, Shiprocket or Shopify API experience
• Experience at a D2C or e-commerce startup
