Steps AI builds AI agents that automate sales and support conversations for D2C and e-commerce brands across their website, WhatsApp, and Instagram. We’re a small, fast-moving team shipping to real customers every week, and you’ll have direct influence on what we build.

The Role

We’re looking for a Full-Stack Engineer who is comfortable owning features end to end: backend APIs, web dashboards, and cross-platform mobile apps. You’ll work across the stack, move quickly, and take things from idea to production.

What You’ll Do

• Build and ship web apps with Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS
• Build and release cross-platform iOS and Android apps with Flutter or React Native
• Design and build backend services and APIs in Node.js/TypeScript and Python (REST and/or GraphQL)
• Build AI-driven interfaces such as chat and agent UIs, streaming responses, real-time updates, and rich message rendering
• Integrate with Meta platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform, Instagram and Messenger APIs, Graph API, Facebook Login)
• Implement secure authentication (JWT, OAuth, social login) and handle data safely
• Build dashboards and data-heavy views optimized for both web and mobile
• Own releases: CI/CD, App Store and Play Store submissions, monitoring, and performance
• Turn Figma designs into polished, production-ready UI
• Review code, maintain quality standards, and mentor junior engineers

Must-Have

• 1+ years of production experience in full-stack development
• Strong React, Next.js, and TypeScript, plus backend experience with Node.js and/or Python
• Experience shipping at least one mobile app (iOS and/or Android) built with Flutter or React Native
• Solid grasp of REST APIs, WebSockets or streaming (SSE), and handling large paginated datasets
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL or similar; Supabase/Firebase is a plus)
• Comfort with Git, CI/CD, and Docker-based workflows
• Ownership mindset, and comfort working in an in-office startup environment

Nice-to-Have

• Live apps on the App Store or Google Play that you built
• Experience with WhatsApp Business API or other Meta integrations
• Experience building AI-powered, streaming, or real-time interfaces (LLM chat UIs, agents)
• Embeddable widgets or SDKs
• Animation tooling (Rive, Lottie, Reanimated, Framer Motion)
• Early-stage startup experience or open-source contributions
