About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance user-facing applications and backend services. Your contributions will span the entire technology stack, including front-end interfaces, backend services, integrations, and data management, ensuring solutions align with business needs and strategic architecture.

The ideal candidate will collaborate within an Agile environment, working closely with Architects, UX/UI designers, QA teams, Business Systems Analysts, and Product/Project Managers. You will play a key role in establishing development standards, creating reusable components, and implementing best practices across our digital platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to impact the digital transformation initiatives at Empower and help shape innovative financial solutions for our clients.

Qualifications

• University or college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 to 5 years of professional software development experience spanning front-end and back-end technologies.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience using modern frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Strong understanding of responsive UI design using SASS, LESS, and modern CSS layout techniques like CSS Grid.
• Experience developing backend services with Java and Spring Boot, including designing Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and relational databases.
• Experience with version control systems, especially Git, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or SonarQube.
• Knowledge of cloud-first development practices and containerized deployment environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
• Experience working within Agile methodologies, utilizing tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Desirable assets include experience contributing to shared platforms or frameworks, mentoring junior developers, and familiarity with enterprise digital platforms like Appian or Ingenium.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive, accessible, and maintainable web applications and backend services.
• Create modern, user-friendly interfaces utilizing JavaScript frameworks and component-based architectures.
• Develop backend services using Java and Spring Boot to support Single Page Applications and external integrations.
• Ensure applications are performant, secure, scalable, and compliant with enterprise standards.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service interfaces for seamless integration.
• Adhere to coding standards, participate in code reviews, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Support testing activities, including unit testing and end-to-end testing, to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and support.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, assist with troubleshooting production issues, and participate in release planning.
• Work within cloud-based and containerized deployment environments, supporting ongoing operational needs.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
