The individual will work across the Frappe Framework, large language model (LLM) capabilities, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), and user interface and experience development to deliver practical, reliable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Frappe Application Development

  • Develop and enhance application features and workflows on the Frappe Framework based on business requirements and market or user feedback.
  • Build and maintain DocTypes, forms, workflows, permissions, reports, server/client scripts and integrations as required.
  • Translate approved requirements into maintainable code and configurations, following agreed development standards.

LLM and AI/ML Integration

  • Contribute to the development and integration of LLM-powered features and AI/ML capabilities where aligned with product requirements.
  • Support integration of AI services or models into existing applications through suitable APIs and workflows.
  • Test AI-enabled functionality for output quality, reliability, accuracy and user usefulness; flag limitations or risks when identified.

UI/UX Development

  • Implement user interfaces and interaction flows that are clear, consistent and easy to use.
  • Work with product or design stakeholders to translate user needs and design requirements into functional interfaces.
  • Identify usability issues and recommend improvements to reduce friction and improve task completion.

Testing and Quality Assurance

  • Test new features, integrations and fixes before release, including functional and regression testing.
  • Identify, document and resolve defects; validate fixes to ensure application behaviour is reliable and accurate.
  • Clarify expected outcomes and acceptance criteria with relevant stakeholders.

Application Maintenance and Troubleshooting

  • Maintain existing applications, investigate reported issues and implement timely fixes.
  • Monitor recurring errors or performance concerns and recommend preventive improvements.
  • Maintain clear technical notes for significant changes, fixes and known issues.

Efficiency, Accuracy and Performance

  • Review workflows to identify bottlenecks, repetitive tasks, data-quality issues and opportunities for automation.
  • Improve application performance, data validation, process accuracy and usability.
  • Recommend and implement practical changes that reduce manual effort and improve reliability.

User Onboarding and Support

  • Provide onboarding support to users accessing the application for the first time, wherever required.
  • Investigate user-reported issues and coordinate with delivery or support teams to resolve them.
  • Document common issues, usage guidance and repeatable support steps where useful.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Work with Product, Delivery, Support and other relevant teams to understand feedback and prioritise improvements.
  • Communicate development progress, risks, dependencies and release impacts clearly.
  • Follow agreed coding standards, version control practices, documentation and release processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining applications using the Frappe Framework.
  • Working knowledge of Python and JavaScript.
  • Experience or practical exposure to LLMs and integrating LLM-powered capabilities into applications.
  • Experience or practical exposure to AI/ML concepts, tools or application integrations.
  • UI/UX development experience, including implementing usable interfaces and interaction flows.
  • Understanding of Frappe DocTypes, forms, workflows, permissions, reports and server/client scripts.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs and application integrations.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL, preferably MariaDB or MySQL.
  • Ability to test changes systematically, debug issues and maintain existing applications.
  • Understanding of Git or another version-control system.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a focus on data accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Good to Have

  • Experience with ERPNext or other applications built on the Frappe Framework.
  • Experience connecting LLM or AI/ML services through APIs and evaluating their outputs.
  • Experience improving application performance, automating workflows or reducing manual effort.
  • Exposure to deployment, release management, logs and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting SaaS products or business applications with multiple user groups.

Success Measures / KPIs

  • Quality and timeliness of feature development and enhancements.
  • Reliability and test coverage of application changes and integrations.
  • Reduction in recurring issues and resolution turnaround time.
  • Measurable improvements in application efficiency, performance, usability and data accuracy.
  • Quality of AI-enabled features, where applicable, including usefulness and reliability of outputs.
  • Quality of user onboarding and support provided when required.
  • Adherence to documentation, coding and release practices.

Working Approach

  • Understand the issue or feedback, clarify the expected outcome, implement the simplest suitable solution, test it thoroughly, and verify that it improves the application for users.
