Odoo Implementation Lead — Functional + Technical

Remote / Work from Home

  • Full-time
  • Marine & mining distribution, Africa
  • Program ownership

We're a Netherlands-headquartered group — a large distributor of engines and spare parts into the marine and mining sectors across Africa. We represent leading global engine, driveline, filtration and equipment brands, and we run service and workshop operations alongside the distribution business. We're now consolidating new group companies onto Odoo as the operational backbone, and we need one person to own the programme end to end.

This is a hybrid role: functional-first (processes, configuration, reporting), but with the Python and Next.js integration to make real decisions on the technical side — and the project-management discipline to run a multi-phase, multi-entity rollout to deadline. You'll start hands-on, then build and lead a small delivery team as the programme scales, after 1 year.

The Odoo build has to deliver that visibility from day one: every entity, every brand, every sales order measured on true profitability, not turnover.

THE PROGRAMME — THREE PHASES

Phase 1 — Core ERP build & migration

  • Migrate (v19 → v19, then v19 → v20): migrate our existing Odoo.sh v19 install onto a clean, unified Odoo.sh v19 domain for the group, then plan and execute the subsequent upgrade to v20.
  • Build – Rollout: stand up new entities on Odoo from zero (distribution, sales, service, warehouse, workshop).
  • Group structure: design and configure Odoo across all entities — multi-country, multi-currencies, intercompany flows, and company/country/brand hierarchies so every part and every sale traces back to its exact origin.
  • Data migration: extract, map, cleanse and load historical data from SAP Business One and the existing Odoo Community install into the consolidated Odoo environment. Verify ledger balances, master data and open transactions. You own the integrity of what lands in the new system.
  • Third-party integration: integrate the third-party Field Service Management and Workshop Management modules with the new entity built on Next.js front-end + Odoo Community back-end onto Odoo.sh — aligned, versioned and maintainable.
  • Reporting: build the reporting layer the group runs on — dashboards, pivots and P&L views showing margin by product, sales order, brand, country and customer. Private-equity-grade visibility across every entity.
  • Managing complete version-controlled SOP’s and procedures for complete rollout

Phase 2 — Distribution platform

  • Build a customer-facing website that distributes parts and other items from Odoo inventory in real time, with social-media channels linked for marketing and lead capture and payment infrastructure. Next.js front-end, Odoo back-end.

Phase 3 — Customer self-service

  • Deliver a separate web application giving customers live lead-time visibility against their open orders and enquiries — pulled directly from Odoo.

THE ROLE

  • Programme management: you're accountable for scope, timeline, budget and quality across all three phases. Weekly status to the group management team.
  • Hands-on first, then team lead: you'll do the heavy configuration, data mapping and reporting work yourself in Phase 1. By Phase 2 you're hiring and leading a small delivery team (functional + developers) you'll build out as projects demand.
  • Business partnership: you work directly with our head-office team and the operating entities across the group with the respective senior managers. You translate business processes into clear SOPs and Odoo configuration, run key-user training, and own go-live.
  • Technical direction: you set the standards for Odoo development on Odoo.sh — Python module work, Next.js front-end patterns, version control, release process. Our developers code to the pattern you set.
  • Administration & infrastructure: you own the group's Odoo tenancy end-to-end — user provisioning across all entities, licences, roles and access rights, security policy, backups and recovery, Odoo.sh environments (dev/staging/production) and the network and hosting setup that sits around it.
  • Document & version control: you keep the single source of truth for how we run on Odoo — every process SOP, workflow diagram and configuration document is versioned, dated, owned and current. If a step changes, the master document changes with it. No tribal knowledge, no out-of-date PDFs floating in email.
  • Reporting: weekly written status to the group management team, and a stakeholder report tailored to each audience — operations, finance and the board — so everyone sees the programme from the angle they care about.
  • New projects: beyond the three phases above, you own new customer-facing initiatives as they come up — scoping them, running them to delivery, and folding them into the Odoo backbone.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 8–10 years as an Odoo implementer, with full-lifecycle multi-company, multi-country rollouts behind you.
  • Python: solid working knowledge is mandatory, not optional. You can write and review Odoo custom modules, data migration scripts, and extensions — not necessarily as a career developer, but confidently enough to lead the technical conversation and ship when needed.
  • Next.js: solid working knowledge is mandatory. You understand the Neomoment-style architecture (Next.js front-end over an Odoo back-end) and can direct Next.js development, review PRs, and make architecture calls on front-end work.
  • Odoo.sh: hands-on with hosting, deployment pipelines, staging/production discipline, and version management.
  • Data migration & upgrades: direct experience moving complete enterprise datasets from SAP Business One to Odoo, Odoo-to-Odoo transfers between domains on Odoo.sh, and version upgrades (v19 → v20). SQL / PostgreSQL fluency, schema mapping, data cleansing.
  • Core modules: operational command of Inventory, Sales, Purchase, Accounting, Project, Field Service and Repair / Maintenance in Odoo.
  • Reporting: you've built dashboards, pivots and P&L / margin reporting that a management team actually runs on.
  • Project management: you've managed delivery to a deadline, run status to stakeholders, and hired and led a small team.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; comfortable across Indian and emerging-markets operating contexts.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent experience.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Prior exposure to engine or spare-parts distribution, after-sales, marine or mining equipment businesses, or operations in Africa.
  • Official Odoo certification v19.
  • Experience building customer-facing e-commerce or self-service portals on top of Odoo.

OTHERS

  • Engagement: full-time. Initially a one-year contract, extendable, with a permanent pathway for the right person.
  • Location: remote / work from home. Base cities: Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad or Bangalore.
  • Compensation: as per experience and the technical depth you bring, with a clear performance bonus tied to each phase go-live.

To apply: email your CV to hr@cep-holland.com, with a short note on an Odoo rollout — ideally one involving data migration, a Next.js front-end, or a multi-entity group — that you led end-to-end.
