Senior PHP / Laravel Developer

We are looking for an experienced Senior PHP / Laravel Developer with strong backend development skills, practical experience building web applications, and the ability to work independently across multiple projects.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel, familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks, and the ability to maintain legacy applications while contributing to new product development and modernization initiatives.

Strong problem-solving skills, clear English communication, and a proactive approach to development are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using PHP and Laravel.
• Build and maintain application features using JavaScript, Vue.js, jQuery, and related technologies.
• Support and maintain legacy applications built using the Yii framework.
• Contribute to the modernization and migration of legacy applications to Laravel.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and well-documented code.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, debug applications, and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with the founder and project/product management team to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Use GitHub or Bitbucket for version control, code collaboration, and pull-request workflows.
• Work with Jira or equivalent project management tools to track tasks and progress.
• Follow secure coding practices, code review standards, and established development workflows.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes where required.
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to improve productivity while maintaining code quality.
• Adapt to different projects, technical requirements, and evolving business priorities.

Required Skills And Qualifications

• 6–10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in PHP and Laravel.
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC architecture, REST APIs, and web application development.
• Practical experience with JavaScript and modern web development practices.
• Experience working with Vue.js and/or jQuery.
• Proficiency with GitHub or Bitbucket and collaborative development workflows.
• Familiarity with Jira or similar project management tools.
• Ability to independently analyze requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a US-based team and manage responsibilities in a remote working environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Yii PHP framework or other legacy PHP frameworks.
• Exposure to modernizing legacy applications and migrating them to Laravel.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar solutions.
• Experience working on SaaS products, enterprise web applications, or long-term product development projects.
• Ability to switch between different projects and technology stacks as business needs evolve.
