Join a high-performing networking engineering team responsible for building carrier-grade and enterprise networking solutions. As a Networking Software Engineer, you will design and develop Layer-2 and Layer-3 networking features, routing and switching protocols, and high-performance packet processing applications for next-generation network products.

Your Role

You will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining networking software components and protocol stacks on Linux-based platforms. The role requires strong expertise in C/C++, networking protocols, packet processing, and protocol troubleshooting across complex network environments.

In This Role, You Will:

  • We are looking for professionals with 6–16 years of experience in networking software development, specializing in Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocol development using C/C++.
  • Develop and enhance routing, switching, and Ethernet-based features for enterprise and carrier-grade networking products.
  • Implement, integrate, and optimize Layer-2 protocols including Ethernet, VLAN, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, LLDP, and MPLS.
  • Develop and maintain Layer-3 networking protocols such as IPv4/IPv6, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, RIP, and VRRP.
  • Design protocol state machines, control plane modules, forwarding plane functionalities, and packet processing features.
  • Optimize networking applications for high throughput, low latency, scalability, and reliability.
  • Develop networking solutions on Linux-based platforms and embedded network operating systems.
  • Perform interoperability testing and troubleshoot complex networking issues in multi-vendor environments.
  • Analyze packet captures using Wireshark, tcpdump, and protocol analyzers to identify and resolve defects.
  • Develop software using socket programming, IPC mechanisms, and multithreaded architectures.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical discussions, code reviews, and system integration activities.
  • Collaborate with product management, QA, system architects, and support teams to deliver high-quality networking solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, test plans, and release notes.

Your Profile

Mandatory Skills

  • Strong programming experience in C and C++.
  • Hands-on experience in Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocol development.
  • Good understanding of Ethernet switching and routing technologies.
  • Experience with protocols such as VLAN, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, LLDP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, RIP, and VRRP.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and packet processing.
  • Experience with Linux-based networking application development.
  • Hands-on expertise in socket programming, IPC, and multithreading.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills using Wireshark, tcpdump, and protocol analyzers.
  • Understanding of networking architecture, forwarding planes, and control planes.
  • Experience in software design, code reviews, and system integration.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to carrier-grade networking products, routers, switches, or network operating systems.
  • Knowledge of MPLS, SDN, virtualization, or cloud networking technologies.
  • Experience in performance optimization and scalability improvements.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and continuous integration processes.
  • Knowledge of network security protocols and technologies.
