Shopify Application Automation Tester (JavaScript/typescript and playwrite experience must)

Role Description The Shopify Application Automation Tester will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test scripts for Shopify applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright. This full-time remote role includes creating and maintaining test frameworks, validating new features, and ensuring regression coverage across multiple storefronts and integrations. Daily tasks involve collaborating with developers and product stakeholders to understand requirements, writing and reviewing test cases, performing manual and API testing where needed, and documenting test results clearly. The tester will monitor test execution in CI pipelines, troubleshoot failures, and provide actionable feedback to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience. The role also involves contributing to quality standards, refining testing processes, and helping drive best practices for automation within the team.

Qualifications

• Strong Quality Assurance foundation, including understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, and defect management.
• Hands-on experience with Manual Testing and writing clear, reproducible Test Cases for web applications.
• Proficiency in Automation testing, specifically using JavaScript/TypeScript and Playwright for UI and end-to-end tests.
• Experience with API Testing, using tools or libraries such as Postman, REST client, or similar to validate integrations and services.
• Practical experience testing Shopify applications or other e-commerce platforms is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI) and version control systems such as Git.
• Ability to analyze requirements, identify edge cases, and communicate issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
