Dam Safety Product and Domain Lead
Company Description The Ksquare Group is a consulting company that delivers cutting-edge technological solutions through customized projects that enhance decision-making speed and quality. By partnering with leading technologies, the organization accelerates digital transformation initiatives for its clients. The Ksquare Group has strong expertise in Salesforce and data solutions, helping organizations modernize their processes and systems. Team members collaborate with diverse clients and technologies, contributing to impactful innovation across industries.
About the role
We're building a digital platform to modernize how dams are inspected, assessed and monitored — replacing paper checklists, scattered spreadsheets and after-the-fact reporting with a system inspectors, dam owners and regulators can actually rely on. This is a greenfield effort, and we're deliberately running it as a start-up inside The Ksquare Group, small team, fast decisions, direct contact with users, and accountability for outcomes rather than tickets.
We're looking for a lead who can carry three things at once — domain, technology, and product. You've worked in or close to dam safety, hydropower, water resources or civil infrastructure; you can design and ship software, not just specify it; and you think in terms of what users need and what moves the business, not just features.
What you'll do
- Own the product end to end: discovery with inspectors, owners and regulators; roadmap; prioritization; and delivery.
- Translate dam safety practice — inspection protocols, hazard classification, instrumentation data, emergency action planning, regulatory reporting — into a workable product and data model.
- Work with architect and build the platform's early versions between the two, then hire and lead a small engineering team as the product proves out.
- Make pragmatic technology choices for field conditions: offline-first mobile capture, photo and geospatial data, sensor integration, structured reporting.
- Run pilots with early customers, learn fast, and shape the commercial model alongside the founders.
- Set the culture and operating rhythm of a start-up team: ship weekly, measure usage, kill what isn't working. What we're looking for
- 8+ years across software product development, with meaningful time in both hands-on engineering and product ownership.
- Domain exposure to dam safety, hydropower, water infrastructure, geotechnical/structural inspection, or a closely related regulated asset-heavy sector.
- Experience taking a product from zero to first paying users — ideally as a founder, founding engineer or early product lead.
- Strong full-stack capability (e.g. modern web/mobile frameworks, cloud services, data pipelines); comfortable with GIS, imagery, or IoT/sensor data a plus.
- Ability to sit with a field inspector in the morning and present to a regulator or executive in the afternoon.
- A bias toward ownership, ambiguity tolerance, and building rather than planning. Must-Have Skills & Experience
Regulatory & Domain Knowledge
- Working knowledge of the Dam Safety Act 2021, including the roles of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), State Dam Safety Organisations (SDSOs), and NDMA
- Familiarity with the DHARMA portal and dam health data reporting requirements for public and private dam owners
- Understanding of the Centre–State division of responsibilities for water resources, and the ability to design workflows that support state-level decision authority with central technical guidanceMonitoring & Inspection Technology
- Hands-on experience integrating IoT sensors (piezometers, seepage meters, inclinometers, strain gauges, etc.) for real-time structural health monitoring of dams
- Experience with drone-based visual and thermal inspection, including image capture, processing, and defect detection
- Experience with satellite remote sensing (InSAR, optical, hydrological datasets) for deformation and reservoir monitoring
- Ability to design and implement early warning systems with automated alerting and threshold-based triggersClimate & Hydrological Risk
- Ability to incorporate updated rainfall data, Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) revisions, and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) risk into monitoring models and risk scoring
- Experience assessing ageing infrastructure and prioritising rehabilitation needs (e.g., under DRIP or similar schemes)Emergency Preparedness & Community Interface
- Experience supporting Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), including inundation mapping, evacuation planning, and mock-drill scheduling and tracking
- Ability to build multilingual, low-literacy-friendly interfaces for local community alerts and EAP disseminationData, Compliance & Governance
- Experience building compliance tracking and audit workflows (e.g., flagging missing safety data submissions, licence conditions, inspection schedules)
- Strong data integration skills across heterogeneous sources (sensor feeds, drone imagery, satellite data, manual inspection records, government portals)
Why join
You'll have founder-level influence on a product that protects communities and critical infrastructure, with the backing of The Ksquare Group and the autonomy of a start-up.
