About The Role
We are seeking a Packaging Product Research & Innovation Leader to spearhead consumer-focused packaging innovations. This pivotal role involves translating comprehensive consumer insights into superior packaging solutions that align with technical, quality, sustainability, and business objectives. The leader will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Research and Development, Brand, Design, Engineering, Supply Chain, and external suppliers—to identify, develop, and commercialize innovative packaging technologies. This role offers extensive opportunities for domestic and international travel, providing a dynamic environment for professional growth. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and a passion for innovation to drive impactful packaging solutions that enhance consumer experience and business performance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background, preferably with an M.Sc. or M.Tech degree from top universities, complemented by 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in packaging or related fields. Candidates with a PhD in Science or Engineering, along with 1 to 2 years of applicable experience, will also be considered. Expertise in packaging materials, engineering, and translating consumer needs into innovative packaging solutions is essential. A deep understanding of packaging technologies, materials, and the ability to apply this knowledge creatively to solve complex problems will be highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate excellent technical documentation skills, a continuous learning mindset, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement consumer-centric packaging solutions by gaining a deep understanding of consumer needs, unmet requirements, and emerging trends.
- Collaborate with Product Research and Development, Brand, Analytics & Insights, and Design teams to translate consumer insights into clear packaging requirements, design principles, and technical specifications.
- Lead consumer learning initiatives, including testing and evidence generation, to inform packaging development and support strategic business decisions.
- Drive the entire packaging innovation process from concept to commercialization, ensuring solutions are consumer-focused, technically viable, manufacturable, and scalable.
- Build organizational capability by integrating consumer insights into packaging development processes and fostering a culture of innovation.
- Manage IMP projects and technical learning plans, guiding ideas from initial concept through qualification and market launch.
- Identify opportunities for packaging cost savings without compromising quality or consumer experience.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supply, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams to meet business objectives and resolve technical challenges.
- Leverage external technologies, supplier capabilities, and emerging packaging trends to develop new materials, technologies, and solutions that provide a competitive advantage.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts related to packaging, quality, manufacturing, and supply issues, working closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to implement effective resolutions.
