Product Manager
Company Description: Scrapingdog is a bootstrapped web scraping API platform used by 1,000+ developers and businesses. Our APIs cover Google (Search, Maps, Shopping, News, AI Mode, Lens), Amazon, LinkedIn, TikTok, ChatGPT and more, and we've been running for about a decade. We're a small, profitable team where one person's work shows up in the product within weeks.
Role Description: You will own the product: what we build, what we don't, and how customers experience it. Today the founder makes most of these calls. You'll take over the roadmap, pricing and packaging, onboarding, and the feedback loop between customers and engineering.
This is not a spec-writing role. Our product is only as good as its success rate, speed and cost per request, and you'll need to be comfortable going deep on those numbers.
What you'll do
- Own the roadmap across our API products and decide what to build, improve or retire
- Define and track product metrics: signup-to-paid conversion, activation, retention, success rates, latency and cost per request
- Own pricing and packaging, including plan structure, credit costs per API, and how new endpoints are priced
- Improve onboarding and documentation so a developer can make a working API call within minutes
- Talk to customers regularly, work with Customer Success to turn tickets into product insight, and track what competitors ship
- Write clear requirements and work day-to-day with engineers on scoping, trade-offs and release
- Run launches for new APIs with Marketing and SEO (positioning, docs, changelog, announcements)
- Review API logs and usage data yourself to find what's breaking and what's growing
Qualifications
- 3+ years in product management, ideally for a developer-facing product, API or SaaS platform
- Technical enough to read API logs, write basic SQL, call an API with cURL or Postman, and discuss architecture trade-offs with engineers
- Experience with usage-based or subscription pricing
- A data-driven approach: you form hypotheses, instrument them and measure the outcome
- Strong written communication, since much of our work and our documentation is written
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership in a small team, with no layers of process
