Centre for Research in Wellbeing and Happiness, FLAME University, Pune, invites applications for the position of “Postdoctoral Fellow” on a contractual basis for a period of one year, subject to further extension.

About the Role

The Centre invites applications for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to its research programme in the areas of public health, health economics, health systems and policy, population studies, socioeconomic inequalities, and health and well-being. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to undertake independent and collaborative research, including conceptualization of research questions, study design, analysis of primary and secondary data, interpretation of findings, and preparation of high-quality research outputs. The Fellow will work closely with faculty and researchers at the Centre while also developing their own research agenda aligned with the Centre’s broader areas of interest.

Responsibilities

• Undertake independent and collaborative research, including conceptualization of research questions, study design, analysis of primary and secondary data, interpretation of findings, and preparation of high-quality research outputs.
• Work closely with faculty and researchers at the Centre while also developing their own research agenda aligned with the Centre’s broader areas of interest.
• Advanced quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis.
• Work with large-scale survey, administrative, or primary datasets.
• Preparation and submission of manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals.
• Development of research reports and policy briefs.
• Dissemination of findings through conferences, seminars, and other academic and policy platforms.
• Contribute to the development of new research projects and grant proposals.
• Support ongoing research initiatives of the Centre.
• Engage with relevant academic, policy, and research networks.

Qualifications

• Essential Qualification: A PhD in Economics, Public Health, Public Policy, Statistics, Demography/Population Studies, Development Studies, or a closely related discipline.
• Candidates who have submitted their PhD thesis and are awaiting the award of the degree may also be considered.

Required Skills

• Evidence of strong research and analytical skills, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications and/or high-quality research outputs.
• Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata or R.
• Experience working with large-scale datasets.
• Strong academic writing and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in health, population, development, or social-sector research would be an advantage.

Pay range and compensation package

• Position: Postdoctoral Fellow
• Duration: 1 Year - (1st November 2026 to 31st October 2027)
• Gross Remuneration: INR 80,000 per month
