Senior Backend Developer (Java) – Trading Focus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services for trading platforms.
• Build and enhance components related to order management, trade execution, positions, and market data processing.
• Collaborate closely with trading teams, architects, and product owners to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Design scalable, resilient, and event-driven backend architectures.
• Ensure high standards of code quality, automated testing, performance, and reliability.
• Leverage AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate implementation, testing, and technical documentation.
• Participate in architectural decisions, technical reviews, and continuous platform improvements.
• Support and mentor other developers, particularly regarding trading domain concepts and backend best practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus, or similar messaging technologies.
• Familiarity with trading concepts, including order lifecycle, order types, executions, positions, P&L, and market data.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing reliable, high-performance, and scalable backend systems.
• Strong unit and integration testing practices using JUnit, Mockito, Test-containers, or similar frameworks.
• Practical experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent) in professional development workflows.
• Understanding Spec-Driven Development (SDD), Context Engineering, and AI-assisted testing and code review practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

Nice to Have

• Experience with FIX protocol and financial market data feeds.
• Knowledge of OMS (Order Management Systems), EMS (Execution Management Systems), or risk management systems.
• Familiarity with trading connectivity, brokers, exchanges, and liquidity providers.
• Knowledge of low-latency systems, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with financial instruments such as equities, futures, options, or cryptocurrencies.
