Technical Lead

About the Job

As a Technical Lead at Aspire, You will work on a high-traffic, production hiring platform, combining strong backend and frontend engineering experience with production troubleshooting and technical leadership. You will diagnose and resolve issues across interconnected systems, support event-driven applications, and collaborate closely with engineering, Client Support, and GTM teams to maintain reliable and high-quality hiring experience.

What you’ll do

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, with particular focus on ongoing and in-progress hiring events.
• Diagnose issues across interconnected backend, frontend, and supporting systems.
• Partner closely with Client Support and GTM teams to triage and resolve incoming production support requests.
• Drive timely issue resolution in line with established SLAs.
• Monitor production systems and respond quickly to alerts, incidents, and performance degradation.
• Support architecture changes, system integrations, and dependencies that may impact hiring events.
• Maintain and update event logic in response to changes in upstream systems and dependencies.
• Develop and maintain backend services using Java/Spring Boot and Django/Python.
• Contribute to frontend development using React.
• Work with Kafka, GraphQL, SQL, and/or MongoDB across application services.
• Support build, code review, merging, deployment, and production operations.
• Use production data and system information to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Take ownership of technical tasks and deliver solutions independently across multiple concurrent projects.
• Lead, mentor, shepherd, and onboard engineers while coordinating technical work across the team.
• Contribute to technical decisions, prioritization, system improvements, and engineering best practices.What you’ll need
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Java/Spring Boot experience as a primary backend technology.
• Experience with Django/Python as a secondary backend technology.
• Strong React experience for frontend development.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven systems.
• Experience with GraphQL.
• Experience with SQL and/or MongoDB.
• Hands-on build and deployment experience.
• Experience with at least one of Dagster, Data Lakes, or Amazon Athena.
• Senior-level engineering experience with the ability to quickly understand existing systems and take ownership across multiple projects.
• Strong ownership and autonomy, including the ability to merge and deploy code independently.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Technical leadership experience, including leading, onboarding, and supporting other engineers.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or overseeing the work of other engineers.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and make effective technical decisions.
• Strong prioritization and strategic thinking.
• Ability to use data and production information to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Experience supporting high-traffic production applications and resolving production incidents.
• Experience collaborating with client-facing, engineering, and GTM teams.
• Product management experience working with GTM teams and engineers to support prioritization.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf.
• Experience with cloud-based application environments and modern deployment practices.
• Awareness or knowledge of IT security best practices as defined by ISO/SOC or similar.
