Job Purpose:

  • The person's primary responsibility is to design climate risk frameworks and scorecards for different catastrophic event and analyzing the impact on Bank’s portfolio.
  • This includes developing spatial models using open-source climate related data for geospatial analysis. Active engagement with Senior Management and vendors

Job Responsibilities(JR) : 6 – 8 Areas

Actionable (4-6)

Geospatial analysis, Portfolio review, Stress Testing and Climate risk Analytics

  • Developing natural catastrophe susceptible models for events such as flood, drought, cyclone, landslide, heatwave etc. for identifying the geographies vulnerable to Climate Change.
  • Analysing impact of climate risk on the different lending products of the Bank and Conduct Stress Testing on Climate change risk.
  • Analyse the change in crop yield for different geographies basis change in climate factors and assessing the impact on Bank’s Agriculture portfolio. Share inputs for designing policy for Bank’s Agriculture portfolio.
  • Create models for estimating sea level rise and identify portfolio at risk.
  • Analyse trends in the Bank’s portfolio through preparation of risk dashboard covering climate and credit risk dimensions
  • Conducting detailed geo spatial analysis to identify potential growth geographies for assets and liabilities using machine learning models.
  • Presentation and review with senior management.

Educational Qualifications

Key Skills

Post-graduate degree (preferablyM.Tech degree with a strong quantitative underpinning and expertise in Remote sensing and GIS) from a respected institution with an outstanding academic record.

  • 2-3 years of professional work experience with a Climate/Weather/Meteorology related organization.
  • Candidates must demonstrate both a strong business sense and deep understanding of Statistical modelling techniques and geospatial modelling for assessing Climate risk.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong understanding of crop cycle and Agriculture sector
  • Experience in Python, Google Earth Engine (mandatory).
  • Experience in Remote Sensing and Geographic information system (GIS)
  • Strong Interpersonal / Communication skillsExperience Required (examples listed below)
  • Experience of 2+ years in Remote Sensing and Geographic information system (GIS) from a reputed Climate/Weather/Meteorology related organization.
  • Exposure to Banking/Insurance preferable
