Position Title: Staff Software Engineer

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across the design and delivery of AI-native, customer-facing applications. You will shape the architecture, engineering practices, and technical direction for systems that span frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, data platforms, and AI capabilities.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and organizational influence. Success is measured not only by the systems you build, but by the engineering practices you establish, the teams you enable, and the long-term technical health of the platform.

As a Staff Engineer, you will partner with engineering leaders, product managers, designers, architects, and AI specialists to solve complex technical challenges, guide architectural decisions, and establish scalable patterns that accelerate delivery across multiple teams.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Lead the technical architecture and evolution of full-stack applications spanning web, mobile, backend services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Drive the design of scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable systems that support current and future business needs.
• Establish architectural standards, engineering patterns, and best practices across multiple teams.
• Lead the decomposition of complex business problems into scalable technical solutions.
• Design reusable platforms, shared services, and developer frameworks that improve engineering velocity.
• Drive modernization initiatives that simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve operational excellence.
• Partner with product, UX, security, infrastructure, and data teams to align technical solutions with business strategy.
• Lead architecture reviews and provide technical guidance on cross-team initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads, helping raise engineering capability across the organization.
• Improve engineering productivity through automation, platform engineering, and responsible adoption of AI-assisted development.
• Champion software quality through strong testing strategies, observability, performance optimization, and operational excellence.
• Influence technology strategy, roadmap planning, and long-term architectural investments.

AI-Native Engineering Expectations:

Staff Engineers are expected to shape how engineering teams use AI to improve software delivery while maintaining high standards for quality, security, reliability, and maintainability. They establish practices that enable teams to gain productivity from AI without compromising engineering excellence.

You should be able to:

• Define and champion AI-assisted software development practices across multiple teams.
• Identify where AI meaningfully accelerates delivery and where traditional engineering approaches remain the better choice.
• Design engineering workflows that integrate AI into requirements analysis, architecture, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation, and operations.
• Establish standards for reviewing, validating, and governing AI-generated code, designs, documentation, and other engineering artifacts.
• Develop repeatable approaches for evaluating AI-assisted development using objective measures such as code quality, reliability, security, maintainability, developer productivity, and business outcomes.
• Lead the adoption of AI tools while balancing productivity gains with risks related to security, privacy, intellectual property, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Create reusable patterns, libraries, templates, and internal tooling that enable teams to leverage AI consistently and effectively.
• Guide teams in decomposing complex technical problems into tasks that maximize the value of AI while preserving sound engineering judgment.
• Recognize the limitations of AI-generated outputs, identify subtle correctness, architectural, and security issues, and ensure critical decisions are validated through engineering analysis, testing, and experimentation.
• Drive improvements to engineering workflows by combining AI capabilities with automation, testing, CI/CD, observability, and platform engineering.
• Mentor engineers on effective AI-assisted development practices, emphasizing critical thinking, verification, and accountability over reliance on generated solutions.
• Influence organizational policies for the responsible use of AI, including data handling, model selection, governance, and acceptable use.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend adoption based on technical merit, measurable impact, and alignment with organizational goals.

Experience Required:

• 9–12 years of overall experience
• Deep expertise in full-stack software engineering, including modern frontend frameworks, backend services, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale production systems.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-team technical initiatives and driving architectural decisions.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, security, scalability, observability, and performance engineering.
• Experience building reusable platforms, shared services, or developer tooling that improves engineering productivity.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into production software or leading AI-assisted engineering initiatives.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and modern development practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and build alignment across organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building AI-native applications using LLMs, retrieval systems, agent frameworks, or other generative AI technologies.
• Experience establishing engineering standards and technical governance across multiple teams.
• Experience leading platform modernization or large-scale architectural transformations.
• Experience designing developer platforms and internal engineering tools.
• Experience defining engineering metrics and operational excellence practices.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and technical leads.
