Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager with a strong background in managing Java-based application development projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Java/J2EE technologies, enterprise application architecture, and modern software development practices, along with proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.

The candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex technology initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This role requires someone who can effectively bridge the gap between business stakeholders, architects, developers, QA teams, and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Java-based software development and enterprise application projects.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, milestones, budgets, resource allocation, and delivery commitments.
  • Work closely with Java developers, technical leads, solution architects, QA engineers, and DevOps teams.
  • Understand Java/J2EE application architecture, microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems to effectively manage technical discussions.
  • Coordinate development activities involving Spring Boot, Hibernate, RESTful services, and database technologies.
  • Manage Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Track project progress, identify dependencies, manage risks, and proactively resolve technical and operational blockers.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering leads on technical design, development approach, integrations, and implementation strategies.
  • Coordinate application development, testing, deployment, release management, and production support activities.
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and delivery milestones to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment between technical execution and business objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, engineering productivity, and delivery quality.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in IT project management, with significant experience managing software development projects.
  • Proven experience managing Java/J2EE-based application development projects.
  • Strong understanding of Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, and enterprise application architecture.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Understanding of front-end technologies such as Angular or React is a plus.
  • Experience managing cloud-based application projects involving AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, or Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP, CSM, or PMI-ACP certification.
  • Experience managing large-scale enterprise application modernization or migration projects.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture, API integrations, and microservices transformation.
  • Ability to understand technical challenges, evaluate dependencies, and facilitate technical decision-making.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed engineering teams.
