Shopify Backend Developer

About the Role

E2M Solutions is looking for an experienced Shopify Backend Developer with 3–4 years of hands-on experience in Shopify development.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Shopify APIs, third-party integrations, checkout extensions, backend functionality, and store migrations.

Candidates with full-stack development experience will have an added advantage, particularly those comfortable working on both Shopify backend functionality and frontend customizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Shopify backend functionality using Shopify APIs, JavaScript, and related technologies.
• Work with Shopify GraphQL Admin API, REST API, and webhooks for integrations and automation.
• Implement Shopify Checkout UI Extensions and checkout-related functionality where supported.
• Integrate and configure third-party Shopify apps, including Recharge, Klaviyo, Search & Discovery, shipping, and payment solutions.
• Customize Shopify themes, Liquid templates, sections, and frontend functionality as required.
• Handle Shopify store migrations from WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Magento, and other platforms.
• Configure and troubleshoot shipping rules, payment gateways, and other Shopify settings.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, QA, and project managers.
• Use Git, Shopify CLI, and AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver scalable Shopify solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–4 years of hands-on experience with Shopify development, particularly backend functionality.
• Strong knowledge of Shopify Liquid, JavaScript, JSON, and Shopify architecture.
• Experience with Shopify GraphQL Admin API, REST API, and webhooks.
• Experience with Shopify Checkout UI Extensions and third-party integrations.
• Understanding of Shopify app integrations and backend workflows.
• Experience with Shopify theme customization and feature development.
• Knowledge of shipping configurations, payment integrations, and store migrations.
• Familiarity with Shopify CLI, Git, debugging, and deployment workflows.
• Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work on-site during the 6:30 PM – 2:30 AM IST night shift.

Good to Have – Full Stack Skills

Candidates with the following additional skills will be preferred:

• Hands-on experience with Node.js, React.js, or similar frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and responsive frontend development.
• Experience developing frontend components and integrating them with backend APIs.
• Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with custom Shopify apps or embedded app development.
• Understanding of authentication, API security, and performance optimization.
• Experience working in an agency environment and managing multiple Shopify projects.
