🧠 About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and skilled External Mentor – Data Science to support learners

enrolled in GUVI’s IITM Pravartak-certified Master Data Science program. You will mentor

aspiring data professionals on real-world datasets, hands-on projects, and practical

implementation of data science workflows including statistics, SQL, machine learning, EDA,

and visualization.

This is an ideal opportunity for working professionals who want to give back to the learning

community while enjoying the flexibility of remote part-time mentoring.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

● Conduct live or scheduled mentoring sessions on Python, data handling, data

visualization, machine learning, and SQL

● Help learners understand real-world applications of data science through guided project

work

● Mentor projects such as revenue prediction, fraud detection, healthcare chatbots, and

segmentation models

● Provide detailed feedback on assignments, mini-projects, and capstone submissions

● Support hands-on training in Python, Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn, SQL, and

Scikit-learn

● Guide learners through topics like probability & statistics, data cleaning, EDA, and

feature engineering

● Assist in practical problem-solving and implementation of ML algorithms (regression,

classification, clustering)

● Explain concepts in descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing, and model

evaluation

● Conduct mock interviews and offer career guidance including resume and portfolio

reviews

● Collaborate with internal teams to improve curriculum quality and learner engagement

📚 Qualifications & Skills

● Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related

fields

● Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science or analytics roles

● Strong expertise in:

○ Python programming and libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn)

○ SQL for data querying and integration with Python

○ Data preprocessing, visualization, and statistical analysis

○ Machine learning with Scikit-learn (regression, classification, model tuning)

○ Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), feature engineering, and data storytelling

● Bonus: Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, and basic knowledge of cloud platforms

(AWS)

● Prior experience in mentoring, training, or technical support is a strong plus

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
