Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to develop, maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot backend services within the Cortex platform. The ideal candidate will take end-to-end ownership of assigned work, understand existing system architecture, and deliver reliable, well-tested solutions while maintaining production stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend services and application components.
• Analyze existing Cortex architecture, codebases, APIs, service dependencies, and integration workflows.
• Own backlog items and technical issues from investigation through implementation, testing, and deployment readiness.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, service integrations, and backend business logic.
• Investigate production incidents using logs, telemetry, database queries, code analysis, and reproducible scenarios.
• Identify root causes and implement sustainable fixes instead of temporary workarounds.
• Write clean, maintainable, secure, and efficient code.
• Develop unit tests, integration tests, and automated regression tests.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, DevOps, infrastructure, data, and platform teams.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Document technical changes, service dependencies, and operational procedures.
• Support knowledge transfer and the transition of Cortex platform ownership to the Hyderabad team.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one relevant backend programming language, such as Java, Python, C#, Go, or Node.js.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, service-oriented architecture, and system integrations.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
• Experience with automated testing, version control, CI/CD, and code review practices.
• Understanding of application security, error handling, logging, monitoring, and production support.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, messaging systems, and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with observability tools, application telemetry, and production monitoring.
• Experience maintaining existing enterprise platforms and supporting legacy application transitions.
