Specialist - Software Engineer (API Developer / Platform Engineering)

Role Summary
Build secure, scalable APIs and integration services that enable AI use-cases to access approved enterprise systems, cloud-security data, workflows, and knowledge sources. This role will establish reusable service patterns and integration capabilities for the AI Build Line.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support RESTful APIs and backend services using Java Spring Boot or Python.
- Build and manage API products, policies, authentication, authorization, traffic controls, and observability using Apigee.
- Develop integrations to approved internal services, cloud platforms, data sources, and workflow systems.
- Package and deploy services to Kubernetes-based environments, using cloud-native configuration, health checks, autoscaling, and resilience patterns.
- Implement CI with GitHub Actions and CD with Harness, including automated unit, integration, security, and deployment tests.
- Apply API security practices including OAuth/OIDC, service-to-service authentication, input validation, rate limiting, audit logging, and secrets management.
- Collaborate with the AI Engineer and other engineers to expose secure interfaces for agentic workflows and user experiences.
- Create clear API contracts, runbooks, and operational documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in software engineering, building backend services, or APIs.
- Strong proficiency in Java with Spring Boot or Python
- Experience designing and supporting REST APIs in an enterprise environment.
- Hands-on Kubernetes deployment experience, including containers, manifests or Helm, service configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with GitHub Actions for CI and Harness for continuous delivery or an equivalent enterprise CD platform and building IaC code to deploy applications
- Experience using Apigee for API development, policy configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Strong understanding of secure coding, application authentication and authorization, and API security.
- Experience with source control, automated testing, peer review, and production support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing in the Kubernetes environment
- AWS development experience, including IAM, EKS, API Gateway, Lambda, or related services.
- Build and deploying Cloud Native applications using Infrastructure-as-Code: CDK/Helm Charts to AWS/K8s environments
- Experience integrating AI/LLM services, event-driven systems, or asynchronous messaging.
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code, observability platforms, and SRE practices.
- Experience in cyber security, cloud security, or a regulated enterprise environment.

- Prioritize engineering quality, automated testing, security, resilience, and maintainability alongside delivery speed.

In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Education
Qualifications & Experience:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
