The Role
We are hiring a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the backend services and APIs behind Blue's applications.
Most of your work will be server-side: building new features, modeling the data underneath them, and making existing systems faster and more reliable as they grow. You will write tests, review code, and keep the documentation good enough that the next engineer is not reverse engineering your decisions.
The part that makes this role different is where you sit in the process. You will work with product managers, designers, and other engineers while requirements are still being shaped, not after they are settled. We would rather you raise a problem early than build something you knew was wrong.
What You Will Do
* Design, build, test, and maintain backend services and APIs.
* Implement new features and the data models behind them.
* Optimize existing systems for performance and scalability.
* Work with relational and NoSQL databases.
* Write unit and integration tests, and keep coverage meaningful.
* Review code and give feedback that improves it.
* Help refine requirements and estimate work honestly.
* Contribute to architecture decisions and technical documentation.
* Improve development practices and tooling for the whole team.
What You Will Need
* 2 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with production systems you have shipped and maintained.
* Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
* Proficiency in Java, C sharp, Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, Go, or a comparable modern language.
* Solid backend experience, including REST APIs, services, and databases.
* A practical grasp of object-oriented design and when a given pattern is the right tool.
* Fluency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
* Clear communication, including the ability to disagree productively and change your mind.
* Honest estimation, and the discipline to flag slippage early.
* The self-direction to work well on a distributed team.
* A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
* Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
* Docker and containerized applications.
* CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practice.
* Microservices or distributed systems at a scale where the tradeoffs became real.
* Experience in a team where engineers helped decide what to build, not only how.

Compensation is ₹12,00,000 to ₹18,00,000 per annum, set by experience and demonstrated engineering ability.
