Principal Software Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer - Java to lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable, high-performance applications using Java and microservices architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance applications using Java and microservices architecture.
• Lead high-level and low-level architectural design discussions and drive key technical decisions.
• Build and maintain microservices using Java, JPA, Kafka, APIs, and PostgreSQL, following industry best practices.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code and ensure high unit test coverage using JUnit.
• Mentor developers, conduct code reviews, and promote coding standards and engineering best practices.
• Develop and optimise real-time data processing services using Kafka and improve database performance using SQL and PostgreSQL.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and DevOps practices to streamline software delivery.
• Perform system testing, validation, and verification to ensure application quality, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Scrum Masters, and developers in an agile environment, working closely with teams in Hamburg and Chennai.
• Drive technology innovation, maintain technical documentation, and promote continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in Java, JEE, JPA, JUnit, Kafka, and microservices.
• Good experience with AWS and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of architectural design, PostgreSQL, and message-driven architecture.
• Understanding of CI/CD, containerisation, and cloud deployment.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and tools such as Git, Jenkins, and JIRA.
