Job Description
The Automation Engineer independently manages end-to-end automation projects, from requirements gathering and analysis through development, testing, and deployment. This role focuses on building robust Excel VBA solutions, automating workflows across multiple applications, and developing insightful dashboards to support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with effective communication and a collaborative mindset to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across time zones.
Responsibilities
- Own and deliver automation projects end to end, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and implementation.
- Develop, write, debug, and optimize VBA code, including the effective use of objects, methods, and events for robust automation solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain Excel-based tools using macros, charts, pivot tables, complex formulas, functions, user forms, and advanced data handling techniques.
- Create automated reports and dashboards, ensuring they are accurate, user-friendly, and aligned with business requirements.
- Identify issues in existing processes or tools, perform root-cause analysis, and propose and implement effective solutions.
- Automate workflows and processes using Excel VBA, Power Automate, GCP, BigQuery, and Python, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
- Develop and maintain dashboards in Power BI and Qlik Sense to visualize key metrics and support decision-making.
- Integrate and automate interactions between Excel and other applications such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, provide regular updates, and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Adapt to working with diverse cultures and across different time zones, maintaining clear communication and coordination.
- Prepare and deliver clear presentations and demonstrations of developed tools, dashboards, and automation solutions.
- Leverage experience in the automotive OEM domain, if applicable, to better understand industry-specific processes and requirements.
Essential Skills
- Proven ability to manage and deliver automation projects independently from requirement gathering through deployment and implementation.
- Strong expertise in writing, debugging, error handling, and optimizing VBA code, including working with objects, methods, and events.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including macros, charts, pivot tables, complex formulas, functions, user forms, and data handling.
- Hands-on experience in report creation and dashboard development using Excel and automation tools.
- Ability to understand customer requirements and work effectively in a concept-to-design model.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose practical solutions.
- Experience integrating and automating workflows between Excel and other applications such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Practical experience in automation using Excel VBA, Power Automate, GCP, BigQuery, and Python.
- Experience in dashboard development using Power BI and Qlik Sense.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and across different time zones and cultures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in an automotive OEM environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Python and SQL for data processing, automation, and integration with other systems.
- Proactive and collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong desire to continuously improve automation solutions and contribute to process optimization.

The role involves working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment that spans multiple time zones and cultures. You will use a modern technology stack that includes Excel VBA, Power Automate, GCP, BigQuery, Python, Power BI, Qlik Sense, and integrations with applications such as SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The position emphasizes clear communication, regular interaction with stakeholders, and active participation in team discussions and presentations. Work is primarily focused on digital tools and data-driven solutions, with an emphasis on accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement.
