As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you will join a team of highly adaptable engineers responsible for rapidly learning new business domains, understanding complex technology ecosystems, and delivering high-priority business outcomes. Engineers in this organization are expected to engage across multiple domains, become productive quickly, execute prioritized initiatives, and transition seamlessly to new opportunities as business priorities evolve.

Success in this role requires strong technical depth, systems thinking, business curiosity, and the ability to navigate complex enterprise environments with numerous upstream and downstream dependencies. Candidates must be comfortable working across modern cloud-native platforms, enterprise integrations, legacy systems, APIs, and emerging AI-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-based applications using AWS services.
• Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and integration services that enable critical business capabilities.
• Establish trusted partnerships with domain engineering teams and deliver solutions that align with existing engineering standards, delivery processes, and operational models.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery, automate repetitive tasks, and improve code quality.
• Apply cloud engineering best practices, including security, observability, and cost optimization.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
• Develop and deploy containerized applications using Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code and automation practices.
• Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability capabilities.
• Contribute to experimentation and adoption of Generative and Agentic AI capabilities and intelligent automation solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay up to date with the latest AWS technologies and industry trends.

What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 4-7 years of experience in software development with Java 11+/J2EE in Spring boot, with a focus on cloud technologies.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and services such as Amazon SageMaker, Bedrock, and Agent Core.
• Experience building scalable cloud-native, distributed, and event-driven applications.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and API design.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Kiro) to accomplish tasks such as generating and reviewing code, writing and maintaining tests, creating documentation, and debugging, with the judgment to validate and own AI-generated output.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, AI workflows, or model integration patterns.
• Experience working with generative AI or LLM-based solutions is highly desirable.
• Rapidly learn new business domains, alliance partner ecosystems, and integrated travel experiences to support evolving business priorities.
• Analyze system dependencies, data flows, APIs, and integration patterns to identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities that accelerate delivery.
• Collaborate across application, architecture, and business teams to drive cross-functional solutions, ensure operational readiness, and maintain delivery momentum across initiatives.
• Lead technical design sessions and architecture discussions.

• Strong hands-on experience in observability via tools like DynaTrace, Datadog, etc.
• Experience working in an airline technology environment is preferred.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Developer certification.
• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for connecting AI models to external tools and data sources.
• Ability to quickly develop expertise in new business domains, customer journeys, interconnected enterprise systems, and partner ecosystems to drive rapid delivery of business priorities.
• Proven analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across technical and business teams.
• Experience operating within large-scale enterprise environments, including cloud transformation and legacy modernization initiatives.
• Delivers complex engineering solutions from design through implementation with minimal oversight.
• Leverage systems thinking to navigate dependencies, solve complex business and technology challenges, and deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
